So far in his career Allen hasn't been a 35 minute per game player. Maybe that's just how Brooklyn used him, but I wouldn't discount the possibility of us adding another young center in the draft.

I was expecting Jarrett to be a much better producer considering the narrative.

11 and 10 guy. His on/off - if you're into that sort of thing - when stratospheric this season but was whatever in years prior. He's only 22. Doesn't look like he'll ever shoot 3s. He doesn't try now, which is probably a good thing.

There's a lot to like. But don't make a mistake and max out a good, but not really good/great player just because they're young and not bad. Teams doing it all across the league. usually small markets.

Oh boy! Finally saw the Cavs package and this is a steal. He’s only 22. My next wish is to get rid of Drummond for a pick. I hope that’s in the works.
Deadline. He and mcgee

He’s a 75% FT shooter. I wouldn’t rule out him shooting some corner threes down the road. Has a decent touch. Made a couple in his rookie year. Maybe Nance can help him extend the range.

gotta say, this is an odd criticism of a very productive 22 y/o big playing limited minutes next to high USG players

He's the kind of player irresponsible teams max out in hopes that he adds multiple dimensions to his game because he's "young." It should be pointed out that he's never shot threes in his career and doesn't even try.

This is a steal. Allen is the kind of center we need in that he doesn't demand the ball much, blocks shots, and runs the floor. He will pair well with our guard-centric lineup. He also shouldn't break the bank. Prince is also a versatile forward who comes at a good price.

He is just a good fit and has produced when he gets minutes. He's not a star, but he will give you and efficient 10 and 10. The hope is you can develop some of his passing ability and maybe his shooting as well into the future. Someone said he is the anti-drummond, and in the sense that he is not constantly trying stuff he can't do that is correct.

Rebounding great, rim protection very good, and efficient scoring as in mostly dunks.

I think he is a great fit and there is reason to think he can grow.

Koby nailed the rebuild. lol

Gotta wonder what this means for Mcgee and Drummond. You have to figure they are trading Drummond now, but who knows. Maybe Mcgee goes. Shoudl be easy to trade Mcgee the way he has played.

It gives us options for sure because we do not have to pay Drummond now. I would say he had a little leverage to get above market rate from the Cavs, and now that is gone.

Steal is right....it’s grand larceny! Allen fits the rebuild well, given his age & upside. Dre is next to go and that could happen soon.

I hope he never tries threes. Just play to his strengths. We supposedly made a commitment to improve the defense and boy have we ever.

Allen is our 2021 FA signing. Without the trade, we have to compete against other teams to sign him to an offer sheet, one that Brooklyn could have matched.

Now, we can either negotiate an extension with him or let another team set the market with an offer sheet and match.

We got a career 19+ PER player, who is 22, for very little.

He also does the things well we need him to.....defend, rebound and play within his role. He also fills a large roster void when projecting down the road.

If you can kind of steal a 4th best player type on a title team, for what amounts to nothing, it is a huge win. Then to do that with someone this young is an exceptionally rare occurrence for a franchise.

Just putting it in to context, Allen is the 4th rated VORP player from that 2017 draft and we effectively gave the Nets less compensation than they used to draft him. The value return on the asset we gave up, with Giannis likely there, is just really, really good.

Edit: Also, if you like win shares as a metric......people would probably be surprised to see that Allen is #1 in win shares from the 2017 draft.
