JEREMIAH OWUSU-KORAMOAH

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It was the combination of the heart-related rumors and being perceived as a tweener, who wasn’t big enough to be an every-down LB. It looks like we may be the big beneficiaries of his fall. It’s nice for a change, as the Ravens usually scoop up guys that fall.

I was worried about his size and tackling bigger backs and getting caught up in blocks myself.

Thing is, he isnt a tweener, he plays like a LB, he tackles like a LB, and he takes on blocks or goes around blocks linebacker. Oh and most important, he is being played exclusively at LB, although while he is mainly at outside LB, he did play a few plays at inside LB. So there, that is "hybrid" LB he can play anywhere at the 2nd level of defense.

Thing is, he tackles like he weighs 245lbs although he weighs 220-225lbs? My biggest concern is no longer a concern, he took on the bigger back, took on a couple of linemen and got down a decent size QB all with no problem. Thing is that while this guy is as fast as almost any safety in the league, its his quick burst that really separates him. I knew he was quick, but holy shit is this guy quick AND fast.

Quick twitch looked great, played incredibly fast and controlled.

Blown away by the NFL speed he’s displaying already. Seems to have a pretty clear handle on the defense.

Saw a couple reps where he could improve. The dip and TFL against the screen was textbook.

Fun player, so excited we’ll get to see this dude keep growing. Looks like he’s going to be a fixture on a defense that plays faster than last year.

And what did it cost to move up to select JOK?

Just moving down about 20 spots in Round 4? Just an absolute steal.

While I didn't believe wide receiver was a huge need in the last draft, a few moments were telling.

#1. After they select Newsome, Kevski points to Woods's office and says, "He's done. No more for him." That hinted to me that the team planned to go receiver in the second round.

#2. They absolutely reached for Schwartz in the third. The durability issues are already clear and present just two months into his Browns career.

I believe addressing another offensive weapon will likely mitigate itself if DPJ continues on his trajectory, but I believe Browns lucked into a situation they couldn't pass up at the cost of a developmental receiver... and I'd do it again 10 out of 10 times.

Never heard 'splash play' before. Looked awesome and like the Browns finally got that stud on defense. Can't call him a Polamalu just yet but he has that potential. Maybe this is what they get for losing out on Ray Ray all those years ago.

Just from an “eye test” standpoint, I wasn’t expecting JOK to jump off the screen at me like he did.

I’m a “casual” football fan compared to a lot of you guys, but even I found myself thinking “who is this #28 guy” before hearing them call his name. Once I realized it was JOK, I was watching him every single play.

Way to burst our bubble, coach.
“Eye progression” lmao yeah ok coach. He’s just trying to keep his young rookie humble. No way he could tell his eye progression needs work.

You saw his ass in those tight football pants, too?

I very clearly remember cracking up when I saw a clip of him after the Schwartz pick. As he walks down the hall and passes by Joe's office, he points to him and says "no soup for you!"

I dont think he will ever be Polamalu because Jok will play a tradishonal LB role just with a ton of speed if the first game was any indication. They didnt once have JOK in a safety or rover like position. They moved him around to outside and inside LB, but still traditional LB positions. He excelled at reading plays, tackling and raw spee like Polamalu though.

Finally got to watch the game this morning. The thing that most stands out to me with JOK is just how functional his athleticism is in space, at a position where just so few guys are functionally athletic. He can play at a speed that very few can at LB......but he can also remain under control and change direction. That is so special.

I think anyone can find tape of a LB running really fast in a straight line and making a play. It is so much more difficult to find tape of a LB running really fast in a straight line, adjusting in route and still making a play. Most will overrun, or slip or both.

He's going to make mistakes and he'll need to develop but seeing the consistent gear he's able to stay in and still make plays, is pretty damn exciting. It is potentially a very dynamic element at that spot, that very few teams in the league have.

That blitz play showed that to perfection. There was a blocker there between JOK and the QB, in good position to stop him. JOK blew past the guy's right shoulder, which should have taken him past the QB and out of the play. But instead, he made an extremely quick change of direction to his right, and got the QB. You could actually see the blocker standing there waiting to pick up, then swing his head to the right in confusion as JOK blew past him.

One concern I had was JOK's ability to shed blocks. I still think he's going to have a hard time taking on good blocks straight on, but it looks like his ability to otherwise slip blocks is exceptional. The combination of that speed and that ability to change direction in a very short space is rare.

Its not the JOK is fast, its that he is quick. Yes his 40 time shows his straight line speed is there, but what is shocking is how fluid and quick his speed is. The ability to shift and adjust is amazing, only seen with the elite of the elite LB's. And size didnt seem to matter he hit and tackled a bigger back like he was 250lbs. I do think he gets caught up with lineman, but many LB's do, he will just have to avoid which is what the best LB's do anyway.
