That blitz play showed that to perfection. There was a blocker there between JOK and the QB, in good position to stop him. JOK blew past the guy's right shoulder, which should have taken him past the QB and out of the play. But instead, he made an extremely quick change of direction to his right, and got the QB. You could actually see the blocker standing there waiting to pick up, then swing his head to the right in confusion as JOK blew past him.

One concern I had was JOK's ability to shed blocks. I still think he's going to have a hard time taking on good blocks straight on, but it looks like his ability to otherwise slip blocks is exceptional. The combination of that speed and that ability to change direction in a very short space is rare.

LOL, said the same thing, most LB's cant shed a 300lb linemen anyways, you have to avoid or run around the block.

I had memories of Barkevious Mingo getting to the QB only to completely miss him because 1) he couldn't change direction and 2) he couldn't tackle. Quite refreshing to see functional athleticism.

Off topic, but I cant see the name Barkevious without cringing now with his acquisitions.....your on point with his speed not being affective, but so, so cringey.

Does JOK lead with his shoulder for a big hit a little too much? I seem to remember him doing that a bit instead of wrapping up and just taking a guy or two down. That doesn't fly as well at this level.

One time i noticed he lead with shoulder and didnt wrap up, but it was a weird angle he came in at....5 times or so i noticed him wrapping up. What impressed me he had perfect form...on their back he stood his ground eventhough the back was a bit bigger...stopped the back in place, and wrapped him up....on the sack it wasnt a form tackle, but he wasnt going for the big hit, just get him to the ground. On the outsdie receiver that he closed ground on, it was another form tackle.

His tackling impressed me...its only one game, but holy shit is JOK better than a thought so far....I thought he would have tackling issues, but not from what i saw. I played LB in high school...no I wasnt good, not saying anything like that, just saying i watch LB's more than any position, I am biased and very hard on them, still came away very impressed

I thought that too. I know he did that quite a bit in college, at least from the clips I saw.

FALSE. He had a fourth down stop against Buffalo in 2007 to seal a win. I think that was the same game as Dawson hit the stanchion a second time on a 40+ yard field goal in blizzard.

That is correct and is one of the few Browns game I've ever been too. THEE Snowbowl 07.

You bet your ass I had snow pants on and a bottle of jack hidden in the undercarriage to witness this 8-0 slobberknocker. At least I got to see a win.

Always struck me as funny that an incredible bad weather (and good weather) kicker like Dawson grew up kicking in Texas, yet seemed to have no trouble adjusting to snow football.

He didn't avoid a 300lb lineman on that play. He avoided a block from former Browns running back Carlos Hyde, which might be a little more impressive.

You know, you remember that plodding running back guy that Sashi Brown traded away in order to force Hue Jackson to give Nick Chubb more than 2 carries a game? Yeah. I guess I could see why you'd block that out.

I've been pissed by a lot of things regarding the Browns the past twenty years, but one of the most egregious insults to the fans was when Chubb rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns on three carries his rookie year and then only got three more carries the following week.

Fuck Hue Jackson.

I’m going to get heated if I go down the Hue road.

like, he made it known immediately that he was one of the most explosive backs in the NFL during that very game and gets fucking ignored immediately thereafter.

that’s just gross negligence — calling it incompetence is a complement
