Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There are many moments in my life that I look back with regret. Most have to do with me missing out on some signal that would have allowed me to get laid, another is the day I cheered for the pick of Manziel while watching the draft.

I screamed loudly "NOOOOOO" repeatedly at the Boneyard in Mayfield Heights that night. Not only was I pissed that they picked him but they traded UP to get him with Bridgewater and Carr still on the board. I felt like my head was going to explode from anger.

I was firmly in the NOOOO category before the draft, but the bar I was in, and the drinks that I already had, swept me up in the fervor.

I was like Phills14. I was a huge Bridgewater guy. Actually wanted him at 4, but props for owning up to it. I know a lot of my friends who had that same reaction you had that now say they have always hated the pick.

If it makes you feel any better I made a high pitched squeal I was so excited when we took Mingo.

I'm not a Manziel guy at all, but many of you are definitely too tough on the him this season. The Browns have BY FAR the worst supporting cast on offense out of any team outside of maybe the Titans. This is his first real season of football and he hasn't looked terrible. I was sure he would never succeed, but it doesn't look like the NFL game is too big or fast for him.

I think it will be interesting to see him with a real weapon or two, but hopefully it won't be with the Browns :chuckle:

We have seen everything we need to evaluate him over the past two seasons. No number of weapons or advantages will hide that fact that:

He lacks conviction. He has no character. He is no leader. A man like that will never be a good quarterback or lead a team to glory. He may learn, maybe, but the Browns can't wait for that day.

Settting the tone at the beginning of the game e is a good quality to have and it has allowed the team to be competitive in the first half against better teams. it forces teams to make adjustments to their game plan. so far those adjustments have worked against the browns.

I think a guy who puts himself in rehab for 2 months. whether a pr move or a serious attempt to get his life in order shows alot of character.
I also think that the way he handled himself after getting demoted in a very humilating manner for something nothing to with football. shows character. Manziel may have been unhappy with pettines decision but he continued to work and set an example.

Manziel also understood that he need to be a pocket passer in the NFL and took steps before training camp to work on exactly that by setting up extra workouts with Gruden and his new QB coach.

Manziel as many have said here entered the training camp with no respect from his teammates or coaches.

The only one who could change that was Manziel and he didnt go back to camp begging and pleading. he went and worked at a level that demanded respect from those most critical of him within the organization.

people are constantly stating Manziel doesnt have any accountability and blames others. yet after a turnover Manziel is on the sideline berating himself for his mistake at the expense of a microsoft tablet.

Last season the line was finishing play calls in the huddle and now Manziel is commanding the huddle and beginning to change blocking assignments at the line.

Joe Thomas was quite vocal regarding his outlook on Manziel. what changed? not Joe Thomas. Manziel did.

even Barnridge took time from relocating trees away from the cities power lines to praise Manziels leadership.

It's hard to not cringe even though I'm conscious of the fact that you're trolling.

I didn't squeal but I definitely was in favor of the Mingo pick at the time. :conf (8):

How can you say whether it was a pr move or a serious attempt to get his life in order, still shows a lot for character? Sure, if it was a serious move it would be showing character. But a PR move is showing a lot of character? That's ridiculous. The dude was drinking days after getting out.

SHOWED CHARACTER???!!!!!! This is just fucking asinine!!! His coaches called him in. They said there was a video that was going to cause a lot of questions during the presser. They asked him what happened and how he felt they should handle it. He looked them square in the eyes and said it was an old video. He lied straight to his coaches faces!!! 30mins later Browns' security confirmed that it was him and that he had lied. Thank god, they found out quickly and weren't humiliated by claiming it was an old video.
SHOWS CHARACTER??? The kid has none!! He's an asshole...a cancerous one.

Pr move requiring spending 2 months in rehab is a lot of commitment one that a lot of NFL' players aren't willing to make unless mandated by the NFL.

Lying about the video was mistake. however they way he responded to his punishment also showed character.

No wonder we suck. We have a cancerous asshole.

As for Rehab...I cannot pretend to know what he can and cannot do, but publicly admitting that you went to rehab then going out and drinking is a stupid look, at the very least.

Celebrities and the upper class used o check into the betty ford center. Movie studios would send actor there to sober them up to finish filming.

The expectation that someone going to rehab entitles other to judge and decide what is best for that person Is an unreasonable one that discourages people from getting help in he first place.
