This year is toast so I'm thinking about next year already: It is usually best for a team when their best players are the team leaders. In an alpha world like pro sports, the guys who are the best right now garner the respect of their teammates. Past performance only goes so far in the grind of a long season. Unfortunately for us, the guys who are our best players are very young and may not be natural leaders. - does anyone see Allen, Garland, Sexton or Okoro being someone to rally around or calling their teammates to account? I think everyone wanted Love and Delly as veteran leaders, but both are struggling so much physically that I'm not sure it can work - both guys are getting nothing but older and will guys who are significantly better than them listen to them?

With no game tonight the Cavs have a day to talk about how they want to handle this. Come down hard with a fine and/or suspension? Just tell him to take the last 11 games off because they want to give the younger guys a look? Don't do anything - just say he got frustrated, made a mistake, apologized, and let's put it behind us?

I have no idea what they are going to do for right now. But the bigger question is what about the next two years. His contract is untradeable. Do they try to buy him out since he obviously doesn't fit and isn't happy? Or soldier on and hope he can stay healthy and contribute something?

What does a 2nd year guard who plays for Houston have anything to fucking do with Love. I scored 40 points at the YMCA in my over 40 league. Same impact the KPJ has on the Cavs.

KPJ has mental issues. They tried to get him help by shipping to Houston. I ignore most people talking about him. But this is the Kevin Love thread, stop bringing KPJ shit into this thread, what Kevin did was bad enough, but not sure why KPJ has anything to do with it. I am sorry we traded your man crush. He did allot of bad things that you have no knowledge of. The cavs drafted him, they wanted it to work out. Just stop brining him up in any thread outside of the KPJ thread.

People need to get over the KPJ situation...It's getting old at this point.

Love and Cavs turmoil just goes together

What's crazy,is that I even sided with him on the Isaiah Thomas situation. Who the fuck are you to come in and question me,especially when I have a ring and you don't. Isaiah came here acting like he was the second best player on the team at the time.

Of course,he has no problem with it....

One day Frye will come to grips with the fact that his buddy Kevin Love is done as a relevant player and the only attention he gets recently is for stuff like this. No other NBA team in wants to trade for him for good reason so he should point that frustration inwards or at the very least, be a good soldier and silently cash them checks until the clock runs out.

Frye's comment is such bullshit.

If the FO and coaching staff were deliberately trying to lose games, I'd understand Love's position a lot more. But this is a rebuilding team that has been absolutely ravaged by injuries, and those guys who weren't injured were out on the floor busting their asses.

If Love wanted to show emotion, how about playing like you're pissed off, and trying to wreck some people. Give a few hard fouls. Inspire the young guys. But instead, the emotion Love showed was that of a petulant, pouty little bitch.

So yeah, I have a real freaking problem with Love chosing to shown his emotion by pouting like a bitch

The tanking part is interesting because it seems more like Love hasn't been willing to tough it out this season and has opted to sit with his injuries. The front office might have encourage him to do so but I'm not sure why they would have him play now.

We know Frye is like Kevin Love's best friend so my guess is he know what Love is thinking in this situation. Love seemed to openly talk about how good he thought KPJ was on road trippin' after the Cavs traded him, he might be hung up on that still.

Also how else does Love think the Cavs are going to get better than to try to get high draft picks. Maybe the front office needs to build a new message with everyone as they end the season. Building confidence in Garland, Okoro, and even Wade will help to get next season on the right footing.

I've defended Love over and over again until this year.

But to recap:

Called out by LeBron on twitter.
Allegedly can't get along with Blatt and was one of the primary driving forces in getting him fired
Doesn't get along with Wade
Doesn't get alone with Isaiah Thomas
Shouting match with Altmann
Doesn't get along with Bielein
Shows up Sexton on the court

Then this.

At some point, he's the problem, and not everyone else.

And now he has a problem. Because we've got goofy talking heads who haven't watched a single Cavs minute all year doing the "Woe is Kevin Love" nonsense. As if he's just such a sympathetic figure to be locked away in Cleveland on a bad team.

Problem is his teammates know that's bullshit. Because he's the highest paid player on the team and, as the article posted earlier notes, hasn't managed to play even half the games the last two seasons. Moreover, when he does play now, he's not particularly good. He's especially not 30 Million a Year good. So now he's gonna have to answer to his teammates who get paid less, play more, and play better, as to why he thinks he's allowed to act like that on the court.

I'm admittedly biased because, even though it worked out for us, I didn't like the trade for Kevin Love in the first place, not because I hated giving up Wiggins and Bennett, but because I just didn't like him as a player. Consider all that full disclosure for my following question: Would Kevin Love be the best player in the Big3 league if he joined today? I'm going with no. Based off my extensive research of watching 3 YouTube clips, I have Amar'e Stoudemire, Greg Oden, and Joe Johnson above him.

I expect so little from Love and he still manages to let me down.

What a fucking bum.

I don't want to hear his name and the word 'leader' in the same sentence, ever. Time and time again he proves he'd rather act like a little bitch and throw his teammates under a bus during some tantrum than act like anything remotely resembling a leader or mentor when the slightest adversity hits.

Personal sidebar:

I talk often about my pops in here.

He's my bestfriend and my die-hard Cleveland sports confidant. You put us together and we put Donovan and Dieken to shame on Sundays in the fall, we make Hamilton sound like Uecker from Major League, and we both do a mean Tait from his Richfield days impersonation but like many, cant get close to the legend.

He's the antithesis to me. He's mister "trust the organization, trust their process and trust the people they hired and let's just be fans" to my "do whatever it takes to set us up for long-term success, I'm willing to shake things up" armchair GM.

We fought over rehiring Mike Brown, we fought over trading Z for Jamison, we fought over drafting and resigning Tristan Thompson - then we just fought over whether he should be resigned this summer, and we fought over resigning Kevin Love instead of just letting him walk.

We werent able to talk after last night's game, but he just texted me setting the table for a spirited debate tonight

:chuckle: :chuckle::chuckle:

This is as close as I will get to an admission of him being wrong (cracks knuckles and prepares for debate/battle)

This is why I love the Cavs

At the very least he should be relegated to coming off the bench now

My question what would it take for him and us to accept a buy out this summer, for me nothing less than him giving up the second year......I’m guessing he can make up halve of that in the open market.....over the next two years......

{looks around}

is Kevin Love still a turd?

yep.

also, adding that Kevin Love is the basketball embodiment of this Woody Allen quote:

“two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions."
