Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

Well he has had five first round picks, and three of the them in the Lotto.

One is off the team, two shouldn't be starting anywhere (for now), and one is showing real flashes, and one is a bonafide great scorer but also conditional in how he might fit on a winning team.

Mixed bag to say the least. Jury is still out but it isn't as if he doesn't have a track record to evaluate.

I'm not sure he could have fucked the rebuild up any worse than he has...

What an excellent trade our savior Koby made today. Two second round picks and a prospect for an expiring aging Javale Mcgee? Koby proving once again why he's the executive of the year! :alc:

Barring a competent draft, a huge off season and a major turn around I don’t Koby surviving next season. Word out of Cleveland is Dollar Dan is looking at turning over the franchise to his 23 year old son (Chris Gilbert) sooner than later as he’s running things anyways and it’s been reported he’s looking at some FO changes.
Dan stroked out and Fedor or Lloyd has an article in the Athletic about the kid taking over.
Koby needs a little luck. They haven’t gotten that “high” pick in a few years. He can really use one.

Pretty easily.

Could have taken Kevin Knox, Cam Reddish, and Obi Toppin

There is middle ground between couldn’t do any worse and nailed it.

And right now, we’re in that middle ground. It will be several more years, regardless of whether he’s still around or not, until we can truly and accurately understand and rate how he did, although It’s perfectly fair and understandable to have an opinion on where things stand now and how they project for the future. But prohection, both negative and positive don’t always match up with the realit of what happens over time so there is still more to the story to be revealed.

I don't get the total Altman hate.. I mean, the coaching decisions have been a bit rough. But the drafts and the trades by and large have been solid.
He's gone what his board has said is the BPA, and every guy he's taken in the first round look like NBA players.
I didn't get the Drummond trade back when it happened, but it also looked a little Dan Gilbert-y, so who knows.
The issues with the team is they are young and they have a bit of a fit issue with Garland and Sexton.
I don't know what people expect here. You have your starting PG in Garland, starting G/F in Okoro/ closer in Sexton and starting center in Allen. Nance is a really good complimentary player and signed to a team friendly deal and Windler is an interesting piece as well as Wade and Stevens.. maybe Thomas too.
You need another wing and another F and some veteran depth. One of those guys needs to be a tier 1 kind of player. Hopefully the draft gets you that.
Cavs didn't make a big trade because it probably would have required including one of the guys mentioned above, but most of them have more value to Cleveland than to any team trading for them.
Maybe I'm nuts, but I think Altman has been way better than Grant and Paxson on building through the draft and adding smart pieces.

He has, & it's not even close.

When Isaiah Hartenstein ties the whole thing together, then they will see...

I tend to have some belief that he can be a good GM. I would feel much more confident with a team president or director or basketball operations that can see and envision the whole picture a little better.

In my estimation, he hasn’t hit enough homeruns for me to be upset if they move on from him this summer. But I also don’t think he‘s so horrible that I’ll be livid if they don’t get rid of him right after the season.

I understand why people don’t agree with that though. It’s kind of a middle of the road milquetoast stance(or lack of stance) for me to take.
