Y would mark Jackson as gm piss off Lebron?

Jackson is repped by rich Paul

Jackson was bitter about not getting the Cavs job. Hence his harsh comments in the finals. I think it was mentioned in the Lue thread when I said be careful what you wish for with Mark Jackson as HC.

I don't get it. Why is Billups even IN this conversation. Why is there ANY REASON AT ALL to believe that he would be a good front office guy?

One thing we should NOT be doing is giving Ty Lue more support. We should be actively seeking Ty Lue's replacement. HE is our biggest handicap...

Another mental midget. Let him be a broadcaster.

Really don't understand the thought-process of going for Chauncey Billups.

We need GMs who have good relations with the other teams and are good in terms of scouting and all. Is Billups, a rookie GM, the right way to proceed forward? I really don't know.

I have my issues with Dan but he earned the right for benefit of doubt. Really hope he knows what he is doing here and has thought it out properly.

Chauncey Billups is one of the most respected players in basketball. He has relationships throughout the league with many teams and circles.

I think it will be nice if we get some new voices in the room. It would be nice to have better scouting for drafted, undrafted, and free agents. Getting guys through means other than trading should give us a better long term future.

Griff did a great job building a championship roster but it was almost 100% done with trades. I just don't think he could retool it in the manner we need to win another against golden state with just trades alone.

If Billups gets Basketball Ops, hopefully will consider ex Milwaukee Asst GM Justin Zanik who was up for the top job despite being groomed as replacement to Hammond (went to Orlando). So he's out there. Before last year he was at Utah. Both have done a decent job, and hes young at 42. Anyway, he was there all year so there would be a lot of continuity and he's now been in both conferences the last two years so he's seen a lot. Spent three years in Utah and bfore that was an agent for 15 years so hopefully well versed in cap. His addition to the Bucks was followed by addition of Seth Partnow who I'm not a fan of, but is a good analytics guy, and so he's got some familiarity with that as well.

NOTE: Milwaukee just hired some guy nobody had heard of, Jon Horst to be basketball operations, with expectation that he would be paired with a GM familiar with personnel. Hopefully that's what happens if admitted Melo-fan Billups gets the job.

Here's the deadspin piece on the f'd up Bucks situation where ownership wasn't agreed on elevating him

Zanik before becoming an exec worked for Andy Miller's player rep agnecy ASM. ASM reps none other than Chauncey Billups.

So while it's no sure thing, that seems like a natural marriage that could be consummated without much difficulty.

I would not mind Zanik under Billups. He propably did a decent Job in Milwaukee.

And i am not that stressed about Billups "I would trade Love for Melo" .. If Dan says to Chauncey "Your directive is get us defense and two way Players" He wont go get Melo..
Billups is overall a very smart guy who is respected and knows Basketball. No guarantee this works though. I am just not as down on him as others.

And he advocated trading Love for Carmelo. If he was our GM, he'd have made that trade.

How would you feel about that?
