there is no hub ub . . . Its a memory HOG and incredibly bloated OS. you'll need at least 1.5 to 2GB of RAM to have it run worth a SH!t.

only geeks are flocking to use it, no sensible usiness is using it.

wait a year or two till its stable and MS finishes its last stage of beta testing on the public after the 2nd or 3rd service pack comes out.

Thanks for the heads up..I pity the fool that buys Vista

I tested Vista at Comp USA. From what I see, it's just basically a graphic upgrade from the previous version.

It's also dark and gloomy, and too techy.

If you really wanted it, I'm sure there's a leak out there to download.

And I don't get why people think Mac is just for designers.

Graphic Design has been around way before Apple perfected Adobe on their machines. I've designed on a PC way longer than I designed on an Apple.

Theres nothing on Photoshop that you can do on an Apple that you can't do on Windows. It's the same effing software.

Actually I have it and you are basically correct. Except for the fact you can use a flash drive as ram. Also you get gadgets like mac.

My advice? Don't get one. They aren't up to date in the times vs the price.

You'd be better off getting a regular computer for that price, it'd be so much better than a laptop. And its harder to steal if you go away to school.

You are right about the prices, but I'm currently away at school and completely disagree with the regular computer statement. Buying a laptop is definatly worth it. I don't know very many people that just have a regular computer and those that do want a laptop. It's more portable and you can take it to classes, other peoples rooms, outside, library, coffee shops, or study lounges. Make sure the school has wireless internet though.

If you are concerned about virus' then get a warranty.

get a mac
Don't unless you got a ton of money to blow.

PS: If you get a Dell, try to get a student discount. Also see if the school you are going to has a partnership or agreement with a company. At my school you can discounted macs, but they are still rediculously priced.

Dell has some sweet PC. I got a 4800 AMD Athlon dual core, 2gig ram, 160 gig hard drive, 19 each widescreen flat panel for about 700 bucks.

PC is fast as hell.. Picture is great I love it. Still waiting on my free update from Dell of Vista though. They are slow on that.

Would you guys reccomend getting the mouse to go with it or is the scrolling with the pad easy?

I hate scrolling with the pad personally... It takes so much longer for me, at least... The mouse is a lot better especially if you get the right one...

You better lock that up when you go to college... Hope you don't have a roommate, because once you leave, they will take it. But you'd have the same problem even if you had a desk top.

How much is that thing gonna run anyways?

1,500 and I'm not going far the first year, but I'm thinking of getting my own place in the same city I'll be going to school (Mentor) and just getting a job out there since it's a much larger city than where I'm at.

I guess that's not a bad price... I have no idea how much computers should run anyways.

Ahhhhh, CDTizzy going off to college... It seems like it was just yesterday he was annoying everyone here, and talking about how glad he was that sophomore year was over..

Cdt, what's the deal with Prom.... Who's your date, and what "ACTION" will be happening prom night?

Apply for the student discount CDT.

You made a wise decision.

Only thing that sucks, is that it's 13 inches. It's compacted and I'm sure theres a plug on the back to hook up a larger monitor, like most laptops do.

15 years young I was...boy that seems ages ago..

I've gone from "that mother****ing nusiance" to "my esteemed colleague" :chuckles:

From a Harro to a Neon (not much of an upgrade)

And Nicky Mac I'm still waiting on who to ask I've narrowed it down to a couple girls I'll post pics..I'm not ascared

I'll get the monitor adapter in due time..13" ain't the worst but it's not the best for movies or anything..but I anticipate a big TV here pretty soon.

Is your date going to look anything like R-Laws?

Better make those hotel reservations now.. :chuckles:
