LeMelo Ball Scouting: Discuss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yep. Lots of questions about his ugly jumper, his mental makeup, and his screwy family. Ball could easily fall to #5, if not further. I think his floor is Detroit at #7.

If,he's at #5 ,do you think the Cavs will draft him or just get the player they want.

If Ball falls to #5 I think the Cavs would look to deal the pick to one of two teams who reportedly have strong interest in Ball- Detroit at #7 or Néw York at #8. Another team to watch is Phoenix at #10, although they may not want to drop down that far.

I think the Cavs are likely to choose from among three players in the draft- Okoro, Okongwu (he may be gone), & Patrick Williams. If Avidja falls to #5, the Cavs would probably just take him there regardless. That’s just my opinion obviously.

He's going top 3 so I wouldn't put too much energy into Ball falling to 5 scenarios. Too many teams ahead of us will take that trade down deal w/ a team like Detroit too.

Minnesota & Golden State are very unlikely to pick Ball. Both team are reportedly open to trading down, but it seems that teams, like Detroit & NY, have nothing that would interest them. Phoenix could offer up Kelly Oubre & the #10 pick, but I’m not sure how that helps the Warriors, with Wiggins already there.

Charlotte seems intent on picking a big guy, either Wiseman or Okongwu. Here’s my top 4, which could lead to a trade with a for Ball:

1) MIN- Toppin
2) GSW- Edwards
3) CHA- Wiseman
4) CHI- Avidja

Boston is also apparently trying to move up for Okongwu. #14 would be a long ways to drop however.

Rule of thumb is to never make deals with Danny Ainge. Boston can go fuck itself.

Ahh, I’d say the Kyrie deal worked out ok as we have Sexton to show for it while the C’s have nothing. I think we’ve all seen by now that Kyrie is a bit of a headcase, which makes him a fun fit with KD.

No way he drops to #5. Avidja isn't going ahead of Ball.
We’ll see. Avidja is almost 6’10” now and teams like him more than many realize. I know the Dubs love him even if they don’t take him at #2. To the contrary, Ball’s stock has been slipping due to concerns about his mental makeup & ugly shot.

Sporting news mocking Ball to us today.

I wouldn't take him at five as stated before if the draft shook out this way. I would roll Okoro or Okongwu.
If the draft were to play out like that, I think the Cavaliers would look to trade down. If that failed, I think they take Okoro, Okongwu, or even Williams before they would take Ball. Ball brings too much baggage and would likely stunt the growth of Garland.

I think this draft is too unpredictable to screw around with trading down a few spots in the hope the guy you want is still going to be there a few spots later. I hope they just take the guy they want unless someone is offering a ridiculous overpay.

I'd take Ball if he was there.

Trust me, I am intrigued with his talent. You just have to have a feeling he might stay if you took him. You watch a kid like him grow, because It WILL take a few years, only to see him during his free agent time, bolt to NY or somewhere else. A kid like him , doesn't want to be here.

If we draft Ball and he ends up being so good that he tries to force his way out of Cleveland that seems like a good problem to have. Worst case scenario then is we trade him for an All-Star and/or lottery picks. I can live with that.
