Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs need to go 8-4 the rest of the way to win the championship.

What pisses me off is thinking about how Boston did with all of this. They got one of the top 3 best coaches in the entire league, if not the best (I believe he is neck and neck with Pop). They have our 2nd best player, who was suppose to be our franchise player that took the torch from LBJ. They got rid of dead weight system players like IT, Crowder. They have some of the BEST YOUNG TALENT in the whole league.

What we have out of all of this- An assistant coach masquerading as a head coach. Lebron most likely leaving us after this season. A mentally broke Kevin Love. And beside those two an entire team of scrubs and a couple young guys with little potential.

I mean what the fuck? We literally gave them our franchise player and got DOGSHIT in return. Literal dogshit.

This is not going out swinging, this is entrusting our future in incapable hands and throwing in the towel.

Hate the Boston fan base as much as you want. But Boston is an extremely well-managed organization from top to bottom. The difference between them and the Cavs from that perspective is night and day.

I truly believe that IT And Crowder could have worked here if we had a decent head coach with any semblance of an offensive plan. Also, looking at how some of the new pieces are coming along, I'm beginning to think we should have kept Thomas and fired lue. Since both Thomas and Kyrie are injured it's a wash for this season, but we would have a better team to try and convince LeBron to stay going into next season:

Thomas/ Hill
Hood/ J.R
Bron/ rookie
Love/ Nance (I believe we could get him with other pieces)
Zizic/ Thompson

The only way to fix this trade now is to either hit a home run in the draft or trade the pick for an all-star player. If we want this team to be successful then lue has to go as well. He's just horrible at integrating new players and making them feel involved on this team.

Remember when the Spurs were in the finals and the ratings would routinely take a nose dive?

That's what will happen.

The rest of the league will do well, but the finals? I mean does anyone here who's not...hardcore invested in the NBA want to see a 4 game sweep where the Warriors are all but handed a trophy for having a super team?

I agree but where are sports fans going to go? NHL doesn’t appeal to many. MLS is well........MLS. I must admit, I kinda watch little NBA during the season and usually only watch the Cavs in the playoffs after a couple games. But I agree, the league is not looking good.

Is there a good way to debunk the "but the ratings are sky-high!" arguments we keep seeing on RGM and reddit, generally from dubheads? The number are what they are, and so far, the "but the ratings are going to be bad" rebuttal that we've all wanted to use hasn't come to fruition.

Without getting too much into the non-game factors at play, the other question is why the NBA is thriving at the same the NFL is cratering.

You are not kidding. Makes me weary for the future full on rebuild. Look at how perfectly Boston is put together top to bottom. Do not see this happening here and having a full fledged mega superstar was the only reason we were able to cover it up.

Provide a solution then. No suicide though.

That Kyrie muffed trade lies in Dan Gilbert’s hands 10000%. Even after the medical reports came back about his hip, he was adamant in getting IT, and thought he would be the perfect cavalier going forward.

Dan should give up all basketball decisions going forward. Any and every.

We banked more on the Nets pick. IT was just a very good throw in coming off an MVP season. We should've known two things, IT would be the worst player off the ball playing along side LeBron, and Nets weren't finishing in the bottom tier.

Anyways, none of this really matters. This season was destined to be a loss. Kyrie went down... again.

I'm willing to wait until the aftermath of the 8th pick before I judge Gilbert and company on this ordeal.

The high ratings are due to the viewership of the international community. They also dgaf about American Football in any way, so they don't pay attention.

The national community isn't watching football due to the Pats winning every year. It's boring frankly.

When the ratings dropped during the Spurs years it was because the international community hadn't latched on to the NBA yet. Since the Spurs kept winning, the national community stopped watching, and there was no real international community to support the NBA.

The only reason the ratings are going up for Golden Shower games is due to the international community, not people in the U.S.

Dont u get the feeling that in our case the owner is the GM ?
No.

Dan is heavy handed at times, but I also think he lets his GMs have some autonomy to negotiate deals and do their jobs. It's not an "either/or" situation.
