Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
At the least I'd be shocked if Halliburton barring injury isn't 10 to 15 year NBA players. The case for him is pretty easy as he can play either the 1 or 2. Can be on ball or off ball. On the Cavs he would essentially solve SexLand as either Garland or Sexton could for with him

Meanwhile Okoro I don't know man. He's got some athleticism but he doesn't jump out of the gym like a guy like a Morant. He seems like a good kid and certainly Jimmy Butler is the best case scenario for him but to get to that stage is going to take a long long time. His box score +/- numbers are the worse among all rookies seeing PT. The dude right now can't catch and shoot, can't pull up, can't post op. His FT shooting is still a concern. I haven't even got to things like court vision. That's a lot of skills to add

Okoro just doesn't have a strength on offense to hang his hat on to help him build out the rest of his game. That's the flaw of taking someone this raw on offense with the #5 pick. Being a good defender just isn't enough to justify 30 minutes a game if you play a position outside of center.

Nwaba is an example of a limited offensive player and a good defender, the Cavs had a hard time finding minutes for him.

I think the front office overvalued what Okoro brought to the team and might have just brought this type of player in at the wrong time. We have no structure to our offense. Sexton and Garland are still finding their way in the NBA. We really don't have enough weapons on offense to cover for Okoro.

I also don't think someone this raw on offense can be thrown to the fire to figure it out. It's not like his offensive game is waiting for the game to slow down for him, he doesn't even have that base.

The Cavs give somebody like Okoro, with few offensive skills, unlimited time to fail. And they give somebody like Wade, with many offensive skills, no floor time to succeed. Absolute insanity.

Weren't we expected to be a bottom 3 team this year at the beginning of the year?

Its interesting how differently we seem to feel based on having a great first 15 games, and then a terrible 15 games. How would we feel if we had a terrible first 15 games, followed by a great last 15 games? We would have the same record, same players, but we would feel optimitic, when in all likelihood, receny bias would be clouding our judgement. Ultimately, not short stint of success or failure, should affect the broader idea that we simply were unlikely to be competitive this year. That became a certainty once Delly, Love and Nance, our only vets, became injured, and Drummond and KPJ had fall outs with the organization.

Additionally, what rebuilding team, after such a complete tear down like the Cavs from June 2018, rebuilt their team in 3 drafts? I mean, we were relatively devoid of great assets once Lebron left, with George Hill, Kyle Korver & JR smith as our main trade pieces/ (We obviously didn't get a proper return for Kyrie prior to that).

I mean, look at Orlando after their ONE final run with Dwight. Basically Top 10 picks since 2012. 9 drafts...and they have the same record as we do. Prior to "The Process", Philly had Thad Young, Jrue Holiday, Vucevic, and Evan Turner in the cupboard...and, OKC, the golden child of drafting for success, prior to drafting Durant-Westbrook-Harden, had drafted in the top ~12 for the previous 5 years...

This is going to be a long process. That said, what it does look like is Koby et al, have sort of replenished our complete lack of draft picks from 2014 to 2018 with some of these trades; maybe that means we are only 2 more high picks away from truly being "back on the map"? Maybe? Hopefully?

2015 FRP: Larry Nance
2015 SRP: Cedi Osman
2016 FRP: Taurean Prince
2017 FRP: Jarrett Allen
2017 SRP: Damyeon Dotson
2018 FRP: Collin Sexton
2019 FRP: Darius Garland
2019 FRP2: Dylan Windler
2020 FRP: Isaac Okoro

These guys are tough to watch right now, and the fits aren't great...but, we are in the infancy of the rebuild. I'm just hoping we don't end up like the Bulls since Rose, Magic since Howard, in arrested rebuild development.

Drummond was just horrible in Cleveland. This dude rant was on point.

That Nance shoulder shrug :chuckle:

Basically Drummond should never be put in a position where he can dribble the ball or pass the ball and he would be great! Best thing for him would be go to the Lakers and have Lebron resurrect his career similar to the Dwight reformation but I think like the youtuber said Drummond still probably thinks he's got an Hakeem like trajectory

Let’s see how the team does with actual practices thanks to the Spurs covid. Just like how we got that rest and practice before the Nets games. I do see bad habits on offense and defense but the team still needs time to build.

spent all the time laughing. looks like that big uncoordinated kid in school who's able to score points just because he's a few inches taller and 20 pounds heavier than everyone.

absolutely hilarious. Nance shrugging with the zoom in with the shot clock next to it!! LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It takes awhile to rebuild. Hit on a stud or get the lottery balls to bounce your way. Young players grow, some are shipped out and bad picks will happen. Just the nature of the beast.

The thing I don't understand everyone saw the schedule for February yet people are bitching about the team getting blown out by playoff teams.

I'm not saying I didn't want them to win but outside of the Suns and Warriors, who didn't make the playoffs everyone else were in the playoffs just six months ago.

We got crushed by teams playing without many of their best players.

a lot of teams hit a bad streak and lose 6-7 games that the nba they than learn how to turn it around

This is a rough stretch... injuries may be to blame... but hard to not think we made a turn in the wrong direction a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed they get something together soon.
