Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We've looked like a bottom of the barrel team against bottom of the barrel teams. We've been in close games against teams missing their entire starting lineup. We've had two good wins this calendar year. Milwaukee at home and Denver at home. We've barely beat the likes of Sacramento, San Antonio (without most of their starters), lost to Detroit, Houston, New Orleans, ect. We've just looked really bad. There's 0 positives I can take from 2022.
And we've been missing guys all year too. I am really pleased with how well we have done with the adversity. You are also missing a lot of close losses where we pushed very good teams like Phi to the brink. No need to burn down the house

I’ll keep repeating that the team needed a Dinwiddie type more than they needed a LeVert type especially considering the way JBB sees rotations.

Would of cost the team less in draft compensation as well.

If they had a better offensive mind LeVert made more sense with the roster make-up.

But yes, I guess it's clear JBB needs a second coach on the court at this point. And someone who can play at a high level. Not Rondo.

I’m infuriated with LeVert still coming off the bench and not getting starters minutes. What is JB doing?

I'm happy you're able to see the positive side of things. I just don't see it the same way. I've seen this team push through adversity and fight in 2021 to early January. But since smoke was blown up the team's ass, I've seen a very different attitude from the squad. Even Mobley has gotten to a point where he's yelling at refs the way JBB has been doing. And we're having struggles scoring, but JBB has been pushing out idiotic lineups constantly. I just don't trust how this squad is being run in any way. Whopeee, we got to 41 wins. But if we're on a regressive path because they're barely running plays out there and our defensive plan is to let teams shoot 3s... And LeVert is stuck as a bench player when he's shown to be better as the secondary ball handler. Like I said, no hope in the future.

Cedi looks really good when he plays with an elite creator and sofa king terrible when he doesn't.

Cannot watch this offense any more, knew 5 minutes into the 1st this raptors game was gonna be an L. Altman may have bailed the rebuild but he sure as hell didn’t nail the JBB extension.

Starting to feel like as soon as he got the extension JBB relaxed and thought like fuck it, im paid one way or the other gonna do this my way, gives a fuck what the FO think or do. I can’t believe Altman traded for Lavert to come off the bench… JBB gives me real narcissist vibes due his constant blaming the players in press conferences, stubborn coaching decisions and his body language against refs during games. Nothings his fault. This shitty attitude is not good for our young players and they are starting to emulate his behavior

He preaches his philosophy is to allow players to “be themselves” then plays them out of position? Plays Lavert as a backup point guard? Wtf is that

Goodwin is a better backup PG than LeVert is. Why not sub him in for Garland? Without a set offense, the LeVert freestyling is not good. Actually worse than what the Sexton detractors say of Sexton. He looks like 2018 Clarkson out there with less buckets.

All kinds of avoidable BS is causing these losses. So tired of this man. The offense is POOP.

Sexton > LeVert and that will be evident next season. He may not be Rubio, but he isn't going to be doing this level of freestyling bullshit as the ball handler.

So tired of seeing non-ball handlers dribble and it ending up being a turnover at the moments the Cavs could take over the game. PASS THE BLOODCLAAT BALL!!!!

That same freestyling bullshit led the Nets to the playoffs twice and was how LeVert was dropping 25-6-5 on prime Jimmy Butler's and Ben Simmons' heads. Guarantee LeVert would be doing what Dinwiddie is doing in Dallas right now if Dallas hadn't waited until the last minute to inquire about him.

The LeVert trade looks terrible and it's insane to say that so soon into it but...he's being used completely incorrectly and it doesn't seem like it's changing.

If JBB wanted a backup PG, then he should have went to Altmann and made that clear so then Altmann could have traded for a backup PG.

JBB has no idea how to use this guy because he has no idea how to coach an offense.

But if that was the case, Altmann needed to parse that out before making the trade.

And they shouldn't have given him that early extension and when we're firing him 35 games into next season it'll be clear that it was a mistake. Huge mistake. He's not a good a coach.
It looks to me like JB flat out doesn't do any coaching on the offensive side. He just rolls the ball out and tells players to "be yourself". They're on their own trying to figure out how to function as a team, all while in live action and under fire.

I have my quibbles with how Bickerstaff is using Lauri as strictly a spacer in late game situations, but some people are flat out tripping.

Goodwin is a G League talent. Aside from resting Garland, he provides no added benefit. Starting LeVert against good teams will look a lot like finishing with LeVert against good teams. The guy just isn't that good. He can go and get buckets on meh efficiency against second units or poor defensive teams. But his handle is too loose, he likes to drive into a crowded paint too often, and he's too predictable to add any type of real value against good teams.

The NBA is filled with players who look decent or even good against meh or uninspired opposition. Those same players look like ham and eggers against good and/or inspired competition. There isn't a coach in the NBA who can fix the fact that the Cavs without Rubio and Allen are a .400 team.

He's a better defensive player, he pushes the pace, he doesn't let the ball stick, he puts LeVert in his natural role.

Just dismissing someone as a "g league talent" is sort of a lazy argument.

He's listed at 6 foot, but I suspect he's 5'11". The advanced numbers aren't showing a positive contribution. He average 5 ppg on awful shooting percentages and too often he tries to play the hero at exactly the wrong moment. They need a better backup PG.

If you mean LeVert's natural role on a good team is coming off the bench, then yes, I agree.
