Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs are now 12-17 with Garland and no Mitchell the last two seasons.

I know Kermit has been beating the drum that this all due to the schedule just somehow lining up perfectly, but, well, Charlotte.

22-6 with Mitchell and no Garland the last two seasons.
Except the second half of last season the Cavs looked better without Mitchell than Garland. Your not putting it together rich

I've been awkwardly and embarassingly MIA for the longest time, but I figured now would be as apropos as ever to pop my face in to say that these Cavs are going nowhere, and fast.

This team has been a fascinating watch this season. They've had some of the most impressive wins of any team in the NBA. They've also had some of the most horrific losses. My mantra for these Cavs has, is and always will be: they can beat anyone, but, by God, can they lose to anyone just as easily.

They're a petri dish of unpredictability, with the only thing predictable about them being... another first round Playoff exit.

Something has been off with our young stars from the jump this year. Take out the 17-4 we went from Dec. 16 when DG & Mobley went out to Feb 3 when both were back and we are basically a .500 team. Take out the wins when they were still on minutes restriction and we are below that. This just shouldn’t be. Mobley was an upcoming defensive savant with an expanding offensive game just 6 months ago. DG was a freaking all-star. I’m beginning to think that when the story of this season is known, we are going to find out something has been off all year.

Don is not Lebron and DG is not Kyrie... but something not to forget. two max guys were not winning on the court when Lebron did not play for whatever reason... Two different teams as well.. Cleveland stinks right now regardless. No healthy, Don team was not going far...

I believe this is also with Kyrie and Love playing...

Kyrie Irving had a 4-13 record with the Cavaliers without LeBron James between the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons

Love was 4-15 during that stretch...

Enlighten me. How can Cavs fans remain positive ? Is it left over LeBron fans that cheer for other teams in the NFL and MLB that are successful so they can withstand 1 failure? Are they fans like my dead grandfather "if they dont win its a shame" aww shucks attitude? Did ur diety forEcast info that the Cavs will win it all in 2047? As a Cleveland fan I can only get kicked in the nuts 4 so long. Perhaps thats why wise men dont get wrapped up in something thats out of their control when odds r stacked.IDK
Im actually asleep right now while dreaming of getting my nightly nut abuse by European futbol players thinking my testicles are soccer balls

The Cavs have the worst record over the last 10 games (3-7) of any playoff or play-in team. I’m glad to see that JBB is fine tuning the team and having them hitting on all cylinders heading into the playoffs

Maybe, just maybe, the Mitchell and Strus extended absence was intentional to get them rest for the long playoff run and shore up the rest of the team that was out before to give them opportunities to find their groove. Obviously that didn't work out so well as JB is a dumpster fire and it put him and Garland under the microscope.

Nah that's just wishful thinking, they are toast.

In the few games Iv seen it’s looked like we’ve fixed the offense but sacrificed the defense. Our guards just don’t play D. Garland is so bad you damn near wanna take him out sometimes just so the other team doesn’t run PnR on him all game. It’s like dude has no defensive fight at all

So Garland was sticking out like a sore thumb last night defensively.

And I wonder who, if anyone, has the pull in the lockerroom and the attitude to call him out.

Tristan would, but I wonder if he feels he's high enough on the pecking order.

Strus perhaps? I don't know if he's thar type of guy though.

But when they watch the tape of that game someone on the team needs to call Garland out for his lazy play.

Not according to stats. The whole team was bad with Okoro being worse

The way to stay generally “optimistic” about sports you’re not involved in is to shrink what you have emotionally invested in the results down to a very small part of your life.

When the results don’t matter that much, it’s easier to be optimistic that when Donovan is back they’ll look like the team they have been with him in the past albeit with probably a 2nd round ceiling right now.

It’s equally easy to see that DG is the odd man out here and that JBB needs to be replaced with a better coach that can unlock this team.

To do it, he’ll need to get DG to agree to play with an effort level and role he never has before or he’ll need to go.

DG- Monta Ellis
JBB- Mark Jackson

CPJ is obviously no Curry, but the team would be far better off letting him develop as the PG with Donovan at SG.

They’re one of the deepest teams in the league. CPJ knows how to take advantage of that and make the team better by keeping the ball moving and attacking when appropriate. He should be the PG.

Garland has a beautiful deep jumper and is comfortable making interior passes, but he’s blocking progress.

Good defensive teams have strong point of attack defense. Guys like Eric Snow and Delonte West were hallmarks for a well rounded defensive team. Without established point defense, or think of it like the turtle's shell, if it's cracked or broken you are allowing the interior to be exposed and the underbelly to be gutted. No matter how good your 4 and 5 are defensively, it puts them out of position and under duress trying to cover and contain. It's asking them to do too much to have the front line defenses pummeled time and time again.
