Lindor trade ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's monday..so it must be time for a New Lindor Deal: In the MLB Trade Rumors JotCast hosted by Tim Dierkes (rhymes with circus) with the subject being.. The Top 50 MLB Free Agents.. a question was presented that piqued my interest:

Somebody named "Derek" posed the question about Bauer to the Dodgers, but with Kershaw, Buehler, Price, Urias, May, and Gonsolin and Josiah Gray, they already are deep in starting pitchers. I’m not sure they’d be willing to make Bauer an offer without a corresponding trade or move....

Tim Dierkes responded: The Dodgers seem like a team that might be opportunistic in trying to acquire Lindor... (no further resolution)..

Any one of the final three would be okay as a starting point.. then add Keibert and a prospect.. call it a Lindor deal?..

Thoughts?
More "getting carried away" stuff:

If Diego Cartaya and Luis Rodriguez are substituted for Keibert.. okay..

If one of the last three aren't going to work for the Dodgers, my first inclination is to keep Lindor and suffer with him on the squad as several SS candidates already in the indians MiLB system improve/mature..

The Indians could also pick from Jake Vogel, Landon Knack, or others..

The dodgers system is deep and talented.. It will cost..

These comps are exciting to read but let’s not get carried away.

I actually feel Mark Loretta will be his floor. His AA numbers look actually almost like Neil Walkers, but his swing looks a lot alike to Loretta's. Go do your own research, but I would be selling him short if I don't say he has a very good chance of becoming a player like a Loretta with a tiny bit more power and strikes out a little more.

Now Loretta wasn't a high HR guy, but Owen hit 15 at AA in 19, which is something Loretta never did, but he can play 2B, SS and 3B, is a plus contact hitter with lighter power (aka lower SLG%) and isnt a heavy SO guy, fits Loretta's batting style to a T.

I've been saying for awhile the Mets are a great fit. I sense Cohen wants to make a splash and suspect it could be Lindor.

Why Gimenez and Mauricio? They are similar players in a lot of ways. I think Mauricio is the better prospect of the two but he's farther away.

I think it should be Nimmo, Allan, Gimenez/Mauricio and Ali Sanchez in my mind.

The Mets are somewhat of a tricky trade partner because most of their moveable MLB talent is heavy in the 1B/Corner OF/DH mold.

JD Davis' best defensive position is DH, Dom Smith is 1B/LF, Nimmo is a corner OF, Pete Alonso is a 1B/DH (he isn't going anywhere).

The Indians already have Franmil Reyes as DH. Josh Naylor as a LF/1B. The Indians can't block Nolan Jones in RF under any circumstance. Daniel Johnson (LF/RF) and Jake Bauers (LF/RF/1B) all deserve extended looks in the Major Leagues.

Jeff McNeill is the only guy who legit moves the needle for me though Lindor would've been a Met this past season if they included him when then the Indians asked last winter. I could maybe get on board with Smith seeing as he's a poor defender but makes really good reads and plays two positions that you can kinda hide....

Agree that Reyes and Natalie have to be accounted for and counted on as full timers. And that Nolan Jones needs to have a pathway.

But I don’t believe Johnson or Bauers should really factor into to who we target or are willing to take in a Lindor return. Not saying to write them off or give up on them either , but just wouldn’t be using their presence to affect the return we prefer in a Lindor deal.

I would like McNeil, but I am doubting they move them. Nimmo is a free agent in 23, so he isnt a long term commitment, he is just a stopgap in a sense. Jones i dont think will be ready for the pros in 21 as an OF and i personally want to see if he can stop being a platoon only guy at AAA.

Its really the other guys we get that will be long term for this team. Now who we get will be a question mark, but I like their package potential way better than teams like the Angels.

I think the return for Lindor needs to focus on quality over quantity. I will take higher rated specs further away then lower ranked ML ready types..

Our guys will get a tryout next season. Think lengthy looks at Chang, Miller, Bradley, Johnson etc. Also Freeman might just start next year as our regular SS. Guys like Tom and Bauers may even do some damage.

Super low payroll - internal options exposure/exhaustion means the window has closed folks. If we compete for the division it will because of our own young/rookie types. Get the BEST you can for Lindor even if that means they are A-ballers.

Andres Gimenez is a lesser player and presented as the clear "replacement" for Frankie Lindor.. The additional guys in this deal are best described as roster fodder for the Mets once they have Lindor.. Ronny Mauricio would immediately become blocked.. and that would be with BOTH clubs.. JD Davis is already blocked with the Mets and would bcome equally blocked with the Tribe. He is defensively challenged where ever he's put on the diamond.. This is a poor deal, as stated..

Can JD Davis and Ronny Mauricio have substitutions..? [or no deal..]

How about picking one of Matthew Allan or JT Ginn and one of Francisco Alvarez or Peter Crow-Armstrong... Three for one, just as presented as the SNY proposal.. The Mets prospects are useful and useable.. but nothing that is close or can be considered sure bets..

Thoughts?..

Play JD Davis in LF and Naylor at 1B.

Regardless of our differences, I completely agree with this post. In order to block any of the players you mentioned, the incoming player would have to be special and none of the players mentioned in that deal fit that description.

McNeil would be an excellent get. He provides an immediate 2B solution for the loss of Hernandez, and also a legitimate replacement whenever Ramirez is dealt.

The only fear I have with some of these ideas is becoming too LHH heavy. A bat like McNeil plays regardless, but Nimmo and Smith give me pause when you think about all of Jones, Naylor, Naquin, Bauers, Johnson, and Bradley. Luplow can only platoon with one guy.

I'd rather receive one good, established, controlled player then 4 top rated A ballers. This team is already loaded in the lower levels and currently has the best pitching staff in baseball. I don't want to see this pitching staff continue to go to waste.
