Battenfield had a solid start for Akron, that was very good to see! This is a year to forget about for Moss ...

Luplow isn’t even on their big league roster and he’s ready to be activated. There’s just no room for him right now with how loaded Tampa is with position players.Right now, did the Rays give up to much? It's kind of looking like it, but then again Luplow I think will be a monster if healthy for the Rays
I'm counting on the Indians' ability to finish off young pitchers to develop Battenfield into a solid major league starter. Look at the track record. The Indians traded for Kluber, Clevinger, Bauer, Vinnie Pestano, and Carrasco when they were minor leaguers. They seem to have the ability to identify young pitchers in other organizations that fit their model and that they can turn into finished products.A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I like the trade, not because I didn't think much of Luplow. I did. When healthy he is a force against lefties and plays solid defense in all three outfield spots.
But the key part is 'if healthy'... which he hasn't been in two years.
If Luplow stays healthy and helps the Rays win over the next several years, it's a great trade for them...no matter what Battenfield becomes.
If Battenfield becomes a dependable member of our rotation or a key back end reliever, its a great trade for us, no matter what Luplow does.
But the probability is that in retrospect it will be a meh trade on both ends...lol.
Battenfield and Pilkington were absolute steals IMO. Morris is back and looking good. Burns should already be in Akron IMO, and maybe Espino should as well. LT Allen is pitching well. What happens when all of Vargas, Hankins, and Cantillo return? Torres is recovering from TJ and the ball has tons of life coming out of his hand. How about this year's draft? The amount of quality pitching this organization has accumulated is nothing short of a marvel to me.In 73.1 total IP this year, Battenfield has put up video game numbers.

Logan Shane Allen or Alex Young to be DFA'd to make space on the 40 man?per Indians Prospective Twitter:
Cleveland #Indians are promoting 24yr old LHP prospect Francisco Perez from Triple-A Columbus on Monday. Perez has burst onto the scene this year while transitioning from starter to the bullpen.
2021 numbers between Akron/Columbus: - 45.1(IP) 21H 6R 6ER 21BB 71SO 1.19 ERA
Akron: 3-0, 0.67, 27 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 46 K, .091 AVG
Columbus: 1-0, 1.96, 18.1 IP, 13 H, 4 ER, 25 K, .194 AVG
--------------------------------------
MT88 note: Perez would need to be added to the 40 man roster for this to happen (there is currently space to add someone).
Underlying impact: If CLE is adding Francisco Perez now, there is better chance he remains on the 40 man roster after this season (much like the earlier additions of Nick Sandlin/Owen Miller). This addition would call the 40 man roster spots of Logan S Allen & Kyle Nelson into question after the season.
My guess would be Blake Parker, but that is purely speculation on my part.Logan Shane Allen or Alex Young to be DFA'd to make space on the 40 man?
