Fuck, I know I am not someone who can sit here and type about the plight of Cleveland sports, but this NBA postseason, in particular, is just horrible with injuries for the Cavs. Whatever decision is made on Irving I will respect, but its a damn shame he shows a pretty stellar outing (23 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals) only to have it seem to be all erased by one leg movement.
After the game, I was going to come here and post my take on how it all played out, but this Kyrie thing is hitting me hard right now. Obviously we don't know what's the deal yet but before that, I could probably find some silver lining to game 1, despite it being a loss.
I can't now. This loss stings, especially when you have a magical night like that from James and no one besides Irving shows up. How the hell do you seemingly control the tempo of the entire game UNTIL over time? Made 1 shot in that final session, if there was one game to steal in Golden State this was looking like it.
If anyone of Smith, Shumpert or even Delly stepped up, this could have been a different outcome. Obviously this loss and the Kyrie thing hurts but there is one thing I know about basketball, don't count out anyone. They took the Warriors to OT in their arena and it took just a horrendous OT to lose that game. I wouldn't be too confident if I was them but then again, the Cavs did force OT with a more than adequate Irving out there. Who knows, that is why you play the games. Anything can happen and right now, while it hurts, its just 1 game. You get the win in game 2 and you did what needed to be done. Not all hope is lost.
