Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With Love and LeVert's expiring money, absolutely.

Imagine a world where the Raptors seriously underachieve and decide they're willing to move OG at a discount to get in on the sweepstakes...wet dream, I know.

Hmm, that's what i'm unsure of.

Other competing teams will have more assets to trade. Arms race will happen for Wemb, and the same will happen for the players that will be available, so potentially our rivals will get stronger while we can possibly only make marginal improvements. Fucking imagine if any top team can trade for a friggin star for a quarter on the dollar now.

I think that considering the intel we have on Wemb now and the domino effects it's going to cause, I would have absolutely kept the assets in tact just to have a chance to get some bargains or i would have just been nice to be left with a 1st round pick to trade. Would you?

Teams that have a chance to throw the towel that are/would have been interesting are Bulls(Lavine), Raptors(OG),Suns(Booker).. but with that being said, Mitchell is still the best SG in the league imo and fits the culture best. So it's a lot closer.

Still, would be nice to have a 1st to trade and I hope we will be able to get enough interest with our other assets and the other teams don't substantially improve. Will be really interesting deadline nonetheless.

After another look at the contracts around the league, the aren't that many interesting prospects. Meh.

Question:

The team that finishes 14th has a 1 in 200 change at the #1 pick overall. 11-13 are 1 in 50 to 1 in 200.

With an absolute freak available at #1 this year those play-in games are going to be brutal. Is any team actually going to want to win and advance?

I just don't believe so whatsoever.

I just hope we’re not a play in team because the tank lobby will be out in force.

For that matter I expect the panzers to return if we start the season slowly.

So we had the Lew Alcindor draft and the LeBron draft. Now there’s Wembanyama. Is there any other consensus generational #1 draft besides those three? I don’t think so. This season is going to see more tanks than Kursk.

Shaq. Tim Duncan.

Zion was super hyped. Anthony Davis was heavily touted

Hod damn Ja Morant is probably the most protected star in the league. Gets the softest whistles Jesus christ.

No travel calls, no carries, gets every whistle inside... even when there is 0 contact.

I see what you mean, but I don’t think I would. Mitchell ticked every box: perimeter scoring, shooting, pick and roll mastery, age, contract status, and locker room fit. If there was a guy for the Cavs to go get, it was him.

There is a coup element to this. Cavs weren't supposed to get him. You have every talking head saying "My understanding is NY has this deal done and they are just crossing I's and dotting T's." Meant there prob weren't many other teams besides NY talking to Utah seriously like Koby was.

Everyone said the Cavs didn't have enough. So a similar deal for say Brandon Ingram is going to have a more wide open field and maybe 3 teams offer more

That package isn't a guaranteed winner, it was good enough because NY was F*****ing around.

Why do you think more teams didn't show interest in Mitchell?

I'm also pretty sure Mitchell is a more impactful player than Ingram. I also prefer to listen to him talk in post game interviews.

Bad teams were scared they would lose him, good teams didn't have the assets. Everyone thought NY would include 3-4 unprotected picks and everyone knew those were super valuable.

It needed to be an Atlanta, Toronto, Cavs type of team. Middle of the Playoff pack who still had assets, but could be pretty confident Mitchell would kick them up a notch so they would be able to keep him. Not a lot of names on that list.

Cavs had a couple advantages. Mitchell and Garland are friends, Rubio is his mentor. We have connections to the Jazz front office through Koby's relationship and Lang was on Snyder's staff. They were more confident they could get Mitchell to stay than other teams. Like would Charlotte feel so confident? They had the assets. They didn't try most likely.

The jazz have the super rare combo of no guard play and no true bigs.. will be fascinating watching how they get through an 82 game season
