NBA News & Notes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When you can give up a guy who is 90% as the guy you traded for, your best defensive wing, a good catch and shoot 3pt guy, and a boatload of picks for an over the hill one way center, you just have to do it!

Reminds me of this scene. Ainge selling Minny on why they need Gobert when they have KAT.

Jokic haterade needs to die a brutal death.

He should have finished this season as All-NBA first team, MVP, finals MVP, and NBA champion.

KAT isn't even in the top-15 in the NBA. I'm not a fan, he's been a loser all his career, and always will be. You can't win building a team around him.

Beverly has made an ass out of himself for years, saying stupid shit, so why not keep at it. Maybe he can join Undisputed with Skip Bayless. That seems to be where he belongs.

But wait…. There’s more !

I can see KAT as one of those dudes that shows up at bars, 20 years later. Just so he can tell his basketball
life story to the bartender, and/or any other drunk that actually will listen to it.

Explaining how he changed the game.

Only for that person to always go "Oh cool, who the hell are you again?".

The King of 0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 asts, 0 stls, 0 blks, and 28 minutes.

Wow

Sorry, any ex NBA all star will be an absolute god in any bar he walks into for the rest of his life no matter how overhyped you think he is

Seriously, nobody’s gonna comment on Morant’s 25 game suspension?

He got off kinda easy it seems like. Who cares about the first 25 games of the NBA season?

Holy shit I'm just catching up on the Zion news. What an epic Twitter thot battle he triggered. Entire thread and response reproduced in this story:

As a middle aged white male, I wonder if I can ever get away with repeating "happy hoes ain't hating and hating hoes ain't happy", or it would just go too far with the culture appropriation. It's a profound truth that often comes up in life.

What is "thot"?

Asking for a friend....

The only way I'd ever watch that show is if they would put Barkley on it with Bayless and make it a drinking game. Take a shot every time Charles says "Skip, you're a damn fool!"

Should've got more, but they did say there were contingencies on his return so could wind up being more. I didn't see what those are.

I'm more interested to see how this affects their offseason. They've been good without Morant historically, but I think they need to add a perimeter scorer to help them bridge that gap if they want to be a playoff team. They have all their picks, GSWs 24 1st, and some tradable pieces. No idea who they'd go after, but I'd be a bit surprised to see them stand pat.

I could also see them just playing out the first 25 games to gauge if it's worth making a move. The Grizzlies are going to need to be about .500 when Morant gets back. The West should be extremely competitive this year. Unless the Blazers trade Dame, there isn't really a Western Conference team that's incentivized to be bad.

If they're smart about it, they potentially could free up a ton of money for '24 free agency. Pretty hard to gauge because we have no idea what Memphis' internal discussions are and if they'd consider moving on from Ja once the suspension was up.

In the updated Ringer NBA player rankings, #15 Mitchell, #35 Garland, #36 Mobley, and #65 Allen.

Doubt that. I’ve interacted with ex athletes or individuals that were at one point considered famous, but had faded from the limelight. Unless they were a top tier star, (KAT isn’t) no one really cared. In fact it seems a bit sorry when they recount their past but no one is aware of them. They aren’t interesting enough in the present and have to recount their past because it’s all they have.

I typically agree with this stance, and have seen it happen several times; however, the "faded stars" experiment hasnt happened since the age of social media. I'd be willing to bet KAT would be easily recognized in many bars he'd go to (I doubt he ends up in rural Wyoming, Idaho, or Arkansas, for example) in another 15, or so, years.

I would say social media generally has very little impact on the recognizability of pro athletes. We know them via games, not instagram photos.

Now if you’re talking Tristan Thompson I’d agree with you but that’s because he’s
a Kardashian.

You're clearly not the demographic of someone that would go to a bar frequented by former basketball players, though.
