Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking at leagues history and predicting this unicorn's chance of getting injured is unwise imo. IF you haven't noticed Wembenyama is unlike anything we have ever seen. He has ridiculous flexibility, good mechanics, posture and he is really fluid. There was no player like him ever and predicting injury based on height in this case is not how I would look at it.

It's all about the Spurs staff and Wembenyama to build and manage his body because the base is there regardless of the history. managing the loads, building strength and slowly building muscle should be the priority, but he just doesn't have any red flags as far as his physique is concerned other than the number itself. Every guy that was close to his height had red flags as far as his body is concerned.

Wembenyama probably has some connective tissue disease that allows him to remain flexible while being this tall. Marfans come to mind.

Wembenyama to me is so insane for the fact that his impact happens in every possession on multiple occasions.. on defense he is like a goalkeeper just protecting everything that comes in the lane. It's ridiculous. The radius in which he operates can cut off players before they even happen. Don't see how he can be beat in switches or at the rim and eventually in the post.. even now he will be able to block shots even if he is backed down under the rim. He is like the ultimate defender to throw at Curry too.. too bad he is too old.

On offense, I don't even know what he can become.. the tools and the skills he has at his disposal to build a total arsenal of destruction is unreal. His frame will also be able to pack on muscle.
It will def be fun to watch from afar.

Considering the obvious Immediate impact, as well as the overwhelming hype, I feel As if Wemby could actually Win defensive player the year If the averages more than 4 blocks a game.

I know that's an absurd amount to predict. Watching his early highlights, however, it almost seems like it might be low balling his bpg (all assuming he can stay on the court for 65 games). His length, mobility, and instincts ate otherworldly. He has been eating people alive 1 on 1 and his range as a help defender allows him to impact 3 point shooters even while he is in drop coverage.

Wilt did that along with 20,000 other … accomplishments.
Wilt's most unbreakable record. More so than 100 points or his huge rebounding numbers, the fact that he played every minute but two, of all 82 games in a season is totally unapproachable. With overtime, he averaged 48.5 minutes a game in 1961-62, with a career average if 45.8 minutes per game.

I guess I'll bite on the Wemby hype train. He certainly is the favorite to win ROTY. He very well could be an all-star (within the next 3 years at minimum). And he's talented.

But does that equal a long and successful career? One of the best ever at 7 foot 3 and higher was Ralph Sampson. And he was good. But after 3 years, his career tailed off and was never the same.

That's the rub: His size is a gift, and a curse... a double-edged sword. I'd like to see him overcome those odds.

I actually mentioned Ralph and Victor, but Sampson had a knee injury after that 3rd year and was never the same. Him and Hakeem were the original twin towers before Robinson and Duncan.

But I am sure you remember how talented Sampson was for those 3 years before the knee. But that is the point, not sure anyone 7'3 or over has ever remained healthy for a career, we will see if Wemby can do it, he looks amazing.

I only go as far back as 1996 for watching players live, but I'm a history buff. I have 26 players who played in the NBA at 7'3 and taller.

Only 14 who had at least 1 win share over their entire career. And only 6 who even played in an all-star game. The only 4 who played in more than 800 games (nearly the length of 10 full NBA seasons) were Shawn Bradley, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Rik Smits, and Mark Eaton. But all 4 of these guys had either missed full seasons to injury or were forced to retire due to injury. That tells us the toll it takes on their bodies, since many of them have suffered similar injuries, especially to their feet.

Lots of notable guys on the list, but this is why I have reservations that Victor Wembanyama will reach close to the greatest of his era.

Wow so by that list Z has an argument to have had the best super-tall career in NBA history!

History is not in Wemby’s favor. Sampson is likely the closest comparison to body type and athleticism. Though, i'd argue that Wemby has him in that regard. Just his flexibility on its own should prevent a lot of minor injuries.

And he also has the benefits of 40 years of sports medicine. I can't say if he will have a healthy career or not. The historical cards are stacked against him. it will be interesting to watch.

In what world is Jaden McDaniels worth 27 million per season? Am i missing something?
