New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jack Ryan season 2 might be the most easily binged show to come out in a while. It's so well paced that you never hit a boring part.

"The boring part" or as I called it the first season

Living With My Self is quality Paul Rudd work.

I watched it in 2 sittings. Mostly enjoyable, but 2 things:

1. This show is basically Paul Rudd with depression meets Paul Rudd without depression.

2. The whole time I'm watching this show and they're struggling to figure out how to cope with a sudden addition to their lives, I'm like "just get a california king bed and yolo"

The show is absolutely ridiculous, but in a 24 kinda way.

And I mean that in a good way. I’m already halfway through the season and will probably finish it today.

I love the Jack Ryan shows.

Like when Harrison Ford yelled "get off my boat!" and threw an anchor into Sean Bean's chest before exposing the lies on the liver stuff: "You switched the samples so you could have provasic!"

So good.

Just started watching Jack Ryan (eg first season, on episode 3). Loving it so far.

His dark materials premiered last night on hbo. Interested to watch this show since I was a big fan of the golden compass. Seems like it’s hand and hand with the movie at this point. Haven’t seen it in forever but everything looked very familiar. Curious to see how this show turns out because the first episode wasn’t anything special, but since the idea of the show is so complex, it seems like it will have to be set up first. Anyone else watching this? Thoughts? I know this story gets pretty dark, so I’m really anxious to see what direction they take with the show

I liked it. Also remember it's a BBC co-produced show and the premiere was the highest watched drama in 5 years in the UK.

I thought it was odd that HBO put it on Monday nights instead of their usual Sunday.

It's because Watchmen is on Sundays right now and HBO is trying to add more original programming, which means they will need to expand from Sundays only.

I guess I didn't word that right. My thinking is why didn't they coordinate the release with the BBC so they could put it on Sunday nights. It seems like an expensive show to make and to risk putting it on Monday just seems odd.

I'd wager most people with HBO just watch their shows on demand via an app. Game of Thrones was one of the few that became appointment viewing to avoid spoilers, but shows like that are few and far between.

That's true but the writers, bloggers, and podcasters are barely talking about it and they seem to talk about any HBO show that is slotted in on Sundays. The Monday night HBO shows just tend to get quick plug for being underrated or sneaky good. I can understand why the put one season shows on Monday nights but this has alot of source material.

I think just like the Watchmen, His Dark Materials could be in line to be the next big hit for HBO. It's hard to know what will catch with on but that 9pm HBO slot is a layup to get people to just tune in or give it a watch. I'm not sure what is slotted for the rest of the year but it's hard to believe they have 5 or 6 new shows that have higher potential.

Always Sunny has been great this year.

"Do you have any idea how much pollution a bus causes?!?"

"I don't know. Three?"

:chuckle:
