New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watchmen has been fantastic so far. Two episodes in and I’m hooked.

I actually went back and watched the movie again with my wife this past weekend (she hadn’t seen it), and I find that I’m noticing things in the show that I probably wouldn’t have if I went in blind.

I've only watched 2 episodes so far, but season two of Castle Rock is fantastic

Been looking forward to digging into season two. Just found out the first three-ish episodes were out a few days ago.

I have both watched it and read the book. I've read most of King's books, really. He was one of my favorites to read back in high school.

I can't imagine trying to figure out what the fuck is going on in this show without having read the comics or, at the very least, watched the movie. I barely have any fucking clue what is going on and I've done both. Like, how fucking wild must the Jeremy Irons stuff be if you don't know the source material?

Oh yeah. That theater scene is a (crudely portrayed) shot for shot re-enactment of how Dr. Manhattan came to get his powers, from the movie.

The stuff with Hooded Justice was a mixture of movie and comics, as I know he is featured in the movie but I don’t think they ever really get into his circus strongman backstory outside of the comics.

I’m really interested to see where this goes, as I can already tell that not everything is as it seems. You’ve got an extremist group that was inspired by someone who had a defined black and white view of the world, and then you’ve got protagonists that are already starting to cross into a grey area - some that seemingly have hidden motives and skeletons, as well.

Yeah, The Watchmen is a winner. Narrative is somewhat straight forward, but you've got a lot of Lindelof randomness and disjointed storytelling that will somehow wind up connected. Like, where is this Veidt stuff headed??

Clone sex.

Obviously.

The Deuce has ended and I am very sad. That was a very good show.

Daybreak is good.

Living With My Self is quality Paul Rudd work.

I watched the first season and was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. it didn’t seem like the kind of show I’d like but I found it very entertaining

I watched the trailer and don't really get it. Is it just a satire of post-apocalyptic tropes from the point of view of a high schooler?

Yes and no.

Some satire, but also commentary on other issues.

It has a lot of elements of Lord of the Flies, works through loss, loyalty, cliques, failure of adults to police the behavior of bad kids, child-eating motorcycle baron, marshmallows in cereal etc.

They did a great job. But, we have to talk about the part at the end:
