New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking for a new show to binge, 3-5 seasons, series complete or near completion.

For reference, my top 5:
Black Sails
Twin Peaks
The Wire
BSG
The Leftovers

Open to most anything buyer not really looking for pure comedy at the moment.

Help a brother out

That final season of Twin Peaks on Showtime is fucking fire. It’s a work of art.

I don’t know if it belongs in the anime thread, but since I never watched the actual anime or read the manga, and it’s live action it belongs here, but I found season 1 of One Piece on Netflix to being extremely entertaining. All 8 episodes made it feel like you were watching a live action version of an anime show. As some one who never watched said anime, I have no idea how accurate the live action is to it but you got the entire gist of every single one of the main characters in just those few episodes. I can not recommend it enough if you’re looking for a show with a little bit of everything that you can just sit and enjoy.
I watched and loved it. It’s wholesome but not corny. Character development is smooth. Rewatched a little as the kids watched and there are clues about future events everywhere.
Cool bad guys too.
I really liked it and didn’t think I would.

Got around to the new Kids in the Hall season.

The opening skit is hilarious.

The full frontal old man nudity 10 minutes into episode one was amusing and horrific at the same time.

I know this isn’t the type of show normally discussed in this thread but I totally geek out on Lost Cities with Albert Lin

First season was 2019 is is on Nat Geo/Disney+

New season(called Lost Cities Revealed) just premiered last night

If you like history and how woefully naive and biased our understanding or acknowledgement of the super complex and advanced civilizations that existed hundreds and thousands of years ago, then you’ll love this show.

As far as the type of shows normally discussed in this thread:

Fargo S5 just dropped its first two episodes and it’s strong in my opinion.

Murder at the End of the World is a new show from the crew that did The OA. I’ve found it just OK so far but fully expecting(or hoping?) for it to take some pretty wild twists and turns from what currently seems to be the main plot.

Anyone else watch Bookie on HBO? It was really funny in my opinion.

It reunited Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre in a cameo appearance by Sheen playing himself but as a degenerate gambler...which could be true.

Frees up Lorre from past shows on network television. Worth a watch imo.

So Wheel of Time season 2 is way better than season 1.

I was falling asleep through season 1 and found season 2 to be mostly gripping television.

Now, I am not a book reader, so that is probably helping me here.

But if Amazon picks either this show or Lord of the Rings to continue on with, it should be this.

Has anyone seen the Godzilla Apple Plus show? As good as reviews? Not trying to entirely waste 6 hours.

Shit, I had written that off with as uneven as S1 was(didn’t watch the finale) but fantasy is in my wheelhouse and I have heard from other people as well so I may need to trudge through a S1 rewatch binge and then watch S2

Character development this season just felt far better. Instead of just rushing from event to event you got to see some character relationships and feelings.

Like in depth stuff with Lan fleshed out over multiple episodes.

Just better.

Not perfect by any means. Finale felt a bit rushed and the show would probably benefit from being a 10 episode season instead of 8, but they have announced they are bringing it back for a 3rd season so I'd say give it a shot.

I felt that I noticed the improved quality right away, from episode 1. To the point I wanted to watch episode 2 right after and I did not feel that way at all during season 1.

Monarch Legacy of Monsters?

I’ve seen the first five episodes and enjoy the characters. Would like to see a bit more of the Titans, but overall it’s been a good series.

Wish I could give a review of the Godzilla movie but

1. Too distracted by the bass of Beyonce movie playing next door, and by the 16 couple giving/receiving blowjob next to us. We couldn't tell what the fuck they were doing until the very end, just thought he was tweaking out and stayed away

2. I was high AF and thought it was incredibly predictable until the very end when they zagged, but by then I was already 45 minutes deep into thinking "fuck this fucking movie and these trash balls next to us"

I binged the first 2 seasons of Slow Horses on AppleTV in about 4 days. They're 3 episodes into the third season with new eps on Wednesdays. British spy thriller with a ragtag group. Gary Oldman is absolute gold. HIGHLY recommend!

Been watching since it came out - agreed, good show! Oldman’s characters thick accent takes some getting used to

I’ve watched 3/4 episodes. I’m enjoying it.
For all Mankind popped up after watching on of the Godzilla shows and I’m currently on Episode 10 of Season 3. I like to watch shows in their entirety, so I’m going to wait for the last episode of Monarch before I jump back in.
