NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know if Pickett would look as good in the regular season, but at a time the Browns acquired their first true franchise QB and the most talent since the expansion, it would suck if the three other teams in the division do too.

I would bet everything I own that Pickett is not the next great Steelers QB.

Probably a poor bet seeing as that franchise always knows what they are doing, but I just refuse to believe it. Certainly nothing he does in preseason will convince me.

5th overall pick. Hopefully he may have escaped a major injury.

Just my opinion, but there's nothing dirty about this at all.

It sucks that Thibodeaux may have gotten hurt, but the blocker was literally right in front of him and executed a common and legal cut block.

Thibodeaux with more awareness could have side stepped it or jumped over it and been unfettered into the backfield. If anything he made it worse on himself by turtling up inward and allowing his knee to be buckled.

Is it legal?

I thought all cut blocks have to be initiated from the front of the players' legs. This looks to be the side.

On my phone and haven't looked at those rules since they were changed, so I might be wrong.

i guess i dont know these exact rules off the top of my head, but that was a super dirty hit. It wasnt even a side hit, he basically him from the back.

It's not legal to cut block from the side, no. But it certainly looked at least to me like Thibodeaux saw the blocker coming head on and turtled up sideways to try and not get hit flush.

Thibodeaux more or less turned himself away from what would have been a legal block in the front and got his knee blasted in the process.

Not dirty at all IMO.

I disagree. It wasn't dirty at all.

So here's Thibodeaux and he clearly sees 81 coming right at him face to face. This is perfectly 100% legal.

But then Thibodeaux, knowing 81 has a head of steam and he doesn't, basically turtles up to try and avoid getting blasted.

81 absolutely cannot slow up or stop just because Thibodeaux is scared to get hit. He is instructed to legally cut block from the front and Thibodeaux turned himself into a sideways hit because he was scared and ultimately got himself hurt.
