NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sure it makes sense.

Multiple first round picks on the table, after the organization’s breathtakingly stupid decisions left them devoid of draft capital.

The player has no interest in playing for the broken franchise, the other players in his own locker room hope he gets his wish.

There is every reason in the world to work something out, unless of course you’re irrationally digging your heels in to prove a lost argument.

With the largest market of available QBs available to replace him (should be easy since he’s “overrated”), the Texans have the chance to get a less “overrated” QB and multiple first rounders.

Sounds like a no brainer.

As Branch Rickey once famously said...

“We finished last with you, we can finish last without you."

The Texans were so badly mismanaged the last 3-4 seasons that they ended up finishing dead last WITH Watson having a tremendous season.

If they actually made him available, I have no doubts they’d recoup three first round picks, three second round picks, talented young players on rookie deals. Whatever they ask for, they’ll get.

A tremendous opportunity for their new front office and head coach to completely reset the organization in whatever new direction they want to go.

Also, an opportunity to be known as the only GM in history of the organization to trade the only franchise QB they only had.
Take a tremendous dead cap hit and have no QB for the future.
As Browns fans know, Draft picks are worthless if you have a dumb and incompetent FO.
Now, if you could make a deal with the Jets and get that top 3 pick and Darnold, I’d roll with it .
Is also think Wilson would get traded before Watson. Base that on age and the type of offense the Hawks run.

The Bears signed Mack to a 6 year $141 million contract extension in September of 2018 and have already restructured his contract twice to kick the financial can down the road.

Mack was set to make $17M in base salary with $9.6M in bonus money in 2021 for a total cap hit of 26.6M.

If they converted the entire $17M into a signing bonus, that would create 12.75M in immediately cap space for 2021.

But... Mack's 2022, 2023 and 2024 cap hits? (approximately)

2022: $31.4M
2023: $29.75M
2024: $27.5M

Packers resigned Aaron Jones to a 4 year 48 million. NFL salary structure is confusing to me, never bothered to learn it.

Bodes well for Chubb's eventual deal I'd think tho.

Kudos to Bills GM Brandon Beane. He's gotten a few of his guys to accept relatively team friendly deals and a few other guys to accept outright pay cuts before free agency begins this year.

Hilarious troll by the Saints here.
I need to see details of this.

I'm going to guess this contract is basically about the saints giving Hill a chance to be their starting QB, and in return if he is good Saints can keep him for an average amount.

There's nothing to see. Hill didn't get any new money.

He had one year left on his deal for $16.3M and the Saints tacked on 4 fake years (the contract automatically voids) to decrease his cap hit in 2021 to $8.4M. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pure cap manipulation.

I guess we'll see if Hill is the true successor to Brees now.

Drew had a good run.

I think the Saints' starter is more likely to be Winston than Hill. Hill's contract is meaningless. They just spread his cap hit over four years instead of one.
