Yeah, i don’t like this at all. From what I saw, Ward didn’t play great all game. If he blew the coverage, own up to it. If it’s Delpitt’s fault, don’t throw him under the bus in an interview when you’re supposed to be a team leader.

Looking at this play, both of them likely fucked up as Ward should’ve stayed with the WR and Delpitt help over the top. Everyone’s focus at that point just needs to be to keep the ball in front of you.

Every single person in the secondary is screwing up.

I just saw the one where Emerson looked like he was confused about who to cover, but we forget about that one because Garrett Wilson dropped the easy pass. 3rd down late in the game, would've been a back breaker for us. And the other one where the guy was open deep but Flacco didn't have the arm to get it to him.

There is a deep, core issue at play. Something is off. It's astounding that the pass defense was actually a LOT worse than what they gave up.

Because, as we've seen, Denzel Ward was nowhere near the flat on this play. Wu was in the flat on his side of the field.

Also, if it was cover 2 with the boundary corner responsible for the flat, then what the fuck is Emerson doing on the opposite side of the field carrying the receiver deep?

I think there's a difference between "I was playing the flat" and "I was responsible for the flat"

I'm going to go with MKC's Tweet because she's usually reliable and she is using quotes.

The first means that he could have been playing the wrong thing. The second means he's insisting he was doing what he's supposed to be doing.

Either way, it's splitting hairs. I'm not liking what I'm seeing, and it sucks because Ward is one of the best press-man cover guys in the league.
