I’m holding out hope that since he was able to walk off the field to the locker room on his own and put weight on his leg that it’s not an ACL tear and more of a MCL sprain and he can return later this season.

There are a lot of sports medicine doctors who carve out a niche analyzing mechanism of injury. Almost every major one is certain ACL with no structural damage.

That really sucks. We can’t really afford any more major injuries. Lets hope Chubb is ready in week 10 after the bye and gets back to running it up and down people.

Man that sucks. I was hoping him and Baker could turn things around. Hopefully he recovers 100% and him and Baker build a good chemistry by being buddies in some way.

a lot of people’s theories have a live trial run for 10 games. The first of which Baker was substantially better without OBJ on the field

I don’t think we’ll be much worse off

Honestly think people are overreacting to the small sample here. Lots ignoring how many tough catches were made, etc. and just generalizing that the problem might be OBJ.

I'm sure there is some pressure to get someone like Beckham the ball, which is fine......but that doesn't really explain why that single dynamic would also cause a QB to consistently do all the other terrible things Baker had been doing.

It's possible that Baker just plays far better as a trailing QB and just doesn't have the demeanor or attitude to grind out games while in the lead.......and the manifestation of playing with more desperation / in more negative game script situations allows Baker to simply react and not think as much.

I'd imagine the question is a really complicated one to answer and not necessarily the cause of OBJ being there or not. This season, that connection had improved......and it seemed like we were striking a better balance between getting him involved vs. forcing him involved. Subtracting Chubb and now OBJ, just makes us a lot less dynamic, which is concerning.

Yeah Mayfield’s problems cut deeper than just “he’s forcing it to Odell”, but now we have 10 games to see a much bigger sample size of if Odell is really part of the solution.
I think much, much more frequent than the high difficulty catches he makes (which really hasn’t been a staple for him in Cleveland) is his piss poor effort when things aren’t coming his way

seriously even the interception yesterday where he got hurt was an embarrassing effort by him to break up that play

and yes I know one time once he made an amazing interception saving breakup in the red zone on an awful Baker throw. But that was the exception not the rule. There are a ton of examples of plays he should have made but didn’t that was masked for a few games due to his taking over the Dallas game. I really don’t think OBJ has been good in Cleveland overall. certainly not a top 20 guy and pretty consistently outshined by Landry. Honestly maybe the targets going elsewhere is better because the players are just... better than Odell. I know many moons ago Odell was an elite receiver, but I haven’t seen it since he’s been in Cleveland ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think it's a huge overreaction. There's a rapport with Higgins that's clear as day different than with OBJ. We all know OBJ is the better WR no question, but how a WR meshes with the QB is possibly an undervalued aspect of how we as fans view a passing offense.

At this point we simply don't know if Baker is actually better with Higgins - but the mere fact that it's even an entertainable question speaks volumes, IMO. It's not just about trailing in a game - we just saw Baker make big-balls throws in full confidence, and the receiver was on the same page. Often times that dynamic just isn't present with OBJ. We don't know why and it could be a number of reasons.

Higgins had an incredible game - 6 catches, 110 yards, and the type of game-changing moments were big. We shouldn't overlook this anymore.

I find it incredibly ironic that the image of Odell has been that he's selfish and all about himself but he gets injured on a play that personifies selflessness.

Wish him the best recovery. Because that's my guy :(

Bingo.

He was rushing back to make a tackle on an intercepted ball that was poorly thrown. Thats as team-focused as it gets.

Do we have an out with him next year? Regardless of his chemistry with baker, he hasn’t played 50% of his games the last few years (and even was battling injuries last year). I feel like his cap space could be utilized better.
