OSU at Texas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
no response........just about what i expected. lmao
hopefully i'll see some bs reply when i get back from work around 4pm

:chuckles: texas has gun laws?

What kind of a moron falls asleep with a gun in his lap? We can only hope it wasn't loaded.

I don't even know where to begin with this game. Although their top DB got suspended, i still see this being a defensive type game. Texas will go with ball control running bc they have no faith in their QB and have a good OL (and our DL is soso). So I imagine tress will put 8 in the box early. From then on, it's all about adjustments. 8 in the box usually leads to some big plays over the top or breaking through with one man to beat, so our tackling must greatly improve from last week... On the other side of the ball, it is never easy to play on the road, but JT usually has a trick or 4 up his sleeve for games like this. Ginn will get doubled even though texas plays a zone, so who's going to step up besides our tight end? Once again, big plays open up and T Smith has all the tools to put us in a great position to win. I hope our running game makes me a believer, but Texas has great speed, but we NEED to run or we will have no way of controlling the clock, which is very important on the road.
Turnovers, TOP, 3rd down conversions, penalties, and 2 wildcards: can we rush and can the texas qb throw over the top if/when we pull another man up front?

bucks win 20-10

Listened to JT's luncheon, and had an interesting comment (paraphrasing): "This Texas defense is the same defense that played against Vince Young in practice every day for three years, so it's not like they haven't seen anything like Troy Smith before." Hadn't thought about that. :(

On the bucknuts radio hour they had a Texas journalist as a guest on the show, and he said that the only position where the Longhorns are thin is at DB (paraphrasing): "Our starters (including the gun toter) are great, but after those 4 guys we have basically nothing." Nice.

Nate, I think our DL is pretty stout. Pitcock and Patterson are animals on the inside, and Gholston looks like the best DE I've seen in a silver helmet since Will Smith left. Richardson and Barrow also looked pretty good on the outside. The question is, can they do it against Texas? Colt McCoy had zero pressure last week. I don't mean zero sacks, I mean zero pressure period! This is probably the best OL we'll face all year. The battle in the trenches will likely prove key, really on both sides. Their DL is also pretty stout, but our OL will likely be the best OL they face all year as well.

well, i know that you know more about the buckeyes than me, so if the DL is good, more power to us. But I wouldn't rush to call them good based on last weekend. That team just didn't have a chance. Just like how texas had a creampuff last week too. I think it's great that their QB didn't get hit because he has no idea what pressure even means, and he is going to find out in a hurry on saturday.

I really am getting excited about this. I really can't wait.

I hear what you're saying. Like I said, let's see if they can do it against Texas. If they can pressure the QB without blitzing that will be huge.

On the defensive side, the battle that's scaring me the most is their fantastic WRs against our green DBs. We really need the boys up front to help them out by making Colt hurry.

I too am getting really jacked. I can't believe it's just wednesday. It feels like saturday night will never get here.

Here's something to tide you over till then. This one always makes my hairs stand up:

I think its going to be a shootout. Scores in the high 20s, low 30s. Both teams are explosive on offense and I dont see why either defense is going to stop the other.

Brown did pass a drug test, which goes to show that he really wasnt doing anything bad other than hanging with the wrong crowd. Hopefully that suspension will get reversed and the drug charges dropped.

Here's another good one to tide you over. The music isn't as good as the one above, but it has more highlights. There's even some Reecie in there!

Agreed. I just hope OSU puts pressure on McCoy. I saw this guy on espn yesterday and this cat looks like hes 16. :chuckles:

He is young and with OSUs defense being inexperienced as well, they key to me, is to get to him early and try to rattle him.

Get a big hit, maybe an interception, try to set the tone on defense and OSU wins.

You let this guy build confidence, at home in Texas, and it could be a long night for the Bucks.

style, thanks for the vids. Let's hope we have some more highlights after saturday...

mac, i think it's going to be a low scoring game, lol. You bring up valid points, but I just can't see their freshmeat QB consistently sustaining drives and i can't see our O turning the ball over too much. V cash wager in the works as soon as the O/U comes out

First play on D bring Lauranitis on a blitz up the middle and knock his teeth out his ass..

First play on O go for the jugular with a playaction bomb to Ginn on a streak unless he draws a double team...if so settle on Gonzalez for a quiet 45 yarder

The ideal play is the one vs ND when Ginn caught it 20 yards ahead of the DB :chuckles:

Steve, are you amazed at how many people favor OSU? The Bucks have won with defense and excellent special teams the past few years. Tons of inexperience at those key areas against a team as talented and experienced as there is in the country (other than QB). They have great lines, great speed, they block kicks better than anyone else and they are at home.

Troy Smith is the reason. He has played three incredible games in a row, in my book. Texas is great, yes. And they are playing at home. Every match-up on the field is even except QB. Troy gives OSU the edge.
I agree we have the obvious advantage at QB, but agree with airbornlawyer that we shouldn't be favored, all things considered.
