Preseason Game #1 (12/16/2011) --- Cavs @ Pistons, 7:30PM

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I see TT as a long term AV replacement. Is it ideal value from a four pick? Maybe not. But he should be a valuable guy. And who knows how everyone else in the draft will pan out.....

I think Vesely, Knight, Walker and the older Morris will be pretty good

I agree about Walker and Knight. The Morris twins are both full blown role players imo. Irving is only guy I can see out of the top 10 playing in an all-star game one day. And even thats hard to see at the moment with all the great guards in this league. And I didn't forget your boy Jonas, he has the talent to be a good player also.

I would say Kyrie is going to struggle a lot because other PG's are so physical but I think he has the intelligence to make up for it for this season. He needs to live in the weight room. Other then that he is a baller. Points will come easy to him but with the lack of offensive weapons on the team his assists will be at around 5 for the season.

Tristan eased my mind a little. He looked good once he got comfortable. His offense is a work in progress. We all knew that but he showed enough improvement from his freshman year in college to this game that tells me he will continue to improve. His free throw stroke and release looked really good and his post game needs improving. Remember though, it's tough for rookie bigs to come in and make an immediate impact in the league. I'm hype because I really think he is going to improve and be really good.

...half the posters on this board would no longer be here.

It would really hard to be able to talk Cavs basketball if that were the case. Even last season, no one really gave a shit about our record. Draft talk absolutely dominated the board. If we had left the draft with only TT, many would probably be too damn depressed to even post here

It wasn't long ago when people on this board were touting JJ for Amare. That's all-star, max contract Amare. Right now how many would rather have JJ than TT? Just on today's performance by TT I would much rather have him.

Tristan Thompson, to me, looked identical to Hickson in college and in one game tonight offensively. They both have/had talent, but lack any skills whatsoever. Thompson has such a long way to go offensively. If he develops like JJ did on offense, I will be happy. He sure as hell better be 20x better defensively though.

Never thought we would reach almost 500 posts in a game thread, let alone a pre-season game thread on here until we were good again. Color me wrong, and impressed. Let's keep it up guys.

I know it’s only preseason but whatever, I’m excited.

Things I learned from this game:
-Tristan is what he says he is, a track star with a jersey on. He needs a lot of work but it was tough to read how much because he was going up against Charlie V most of the game.
-Charlie V is very close to or might be the worst player in the league.
-Samardo has a really good chance to be the Cavs 2nd best big man this year behind Andy.
-Cavs had zero quality wing players take the floor tonight.
-Kyrie is probably going to be underrated this entire season but when the game was on the line and Brandon Knight and the Pistons had all the momentum, Kyrie flops on an inbounds pass to perfection and gets the call. Brandon Knight who had been outplaying him the past quarter starts fuming and trying to tell everybody he didn’t touch him while Kyrie quietly goes to the line with a smirk on his face thinking “Pssht, rookie mistake” and drains two free throws to help ice the game. We got ourselves a winner folks.

It was great to have the Cavs back on TV tonight. I tried not to analyze too much from this game, but all things considered I give the guys a lot of credit. I really noticed the increase effort and cohesiveness on the defensive end. It's easy to see Byron is really making that a sticking point early on in training camp. The offense will come in time.

I was really happy with the play of Kyrie and Samardo Samuels. Samardo has impressed me since the first time I saw him play at the Las Vegas Summer League. He continues to improve, at a pretty rapid pace too.

I was pretty down on TT during the 1st half. I realized it was only his first pro game, and he was probably nervous as hell, but I felt jipped that he was our #4 pick. He seemed to calm down in the 2nd half, and once he kind of got it together I could understand how much potential this guy could have here, especially developing here with Kyrie.

I'm still not sold on Gee or Eyenga. Again, meaningless game #1, but once the competition is for real, and the opponents become more fierce, I see these guys making more costly mistakes than having a positive impact. Prove me wrong though.

Oh well, who cares, we're 1-0... Let's roll! Haha!

C'mon Tarheel. You know my man Kyrie learned how to flop and draw foul calls at Duke.

I remember we tried to ink Charlie to a contract a few yrs back.. thank god he went for the money.

Anyways, I was impressed with TT, and I'm looking forward to his development.

I liked what I saw tonight, I actually got excited and enjoyed watching the whole game for the 1st time in a while... I was impressed by Kyrie, even though he tired out in the 2nd half (which is understandable) and TT in the 2nd half played very well, showing some potential. I'm very excited to be able to watch Kyrie and TT grow together throughout this year. Go Cavs :D

Anyone else surprised Ryan Hollins didn't get in tonight? I figured he'd at least get a few minutes. Was he hurt, were they trying to avoid another Charlie V encounter, or is he just that shitty?

Fred McLeod, Austin Carr and Jeff Phelps had the only 3 microphones available, so the production team told Hollins to sit this one out.

I knew someone would come up with a clever remark on how much he sucks, but I was surprised he didn't get in. I would rather see him out there than Jamison's selfish ass.
