Can't help but wonder when we'll at least get our defense to top notch form...
Currently, I'm glad that Mike Brown is putting so much emphasis on the defensive end, but seeing games where our opponents have over 55% field goals makes me wonder if he's also trying too hard to make the offense work. And this is coming from someone who hasn't seen the team in action. Will our defense pick up quickly enough so it reaches the elite once more.
It seems that Mo is starting a little bad habit of foul trouble early on. He better cut them short, or he may start seeing action much later on (though, I have to admit that putting him in when LeBron goes out seems like an effective idea, just hopefully not due to foul trouble). J.J.'s very predictable at this point. Based on excellent observations from Wine and Gold, he's in for a long couple of months. But I think he'll be just fine, as well as Mo. When we had weaker defensive players like D.Jones and Wally, they couldn't stop their men, but compensated with some help defense and other players helping them out. It took those guys a couple of months to get it fixed, right? So by December at the earliest, J.J. and Mo should start seeing improvement and less fouls. Until then, I guess the preseason and November are gonna be very long defensively...
Aside from my defensive worries, I have to agree that with the real point guard running the team, we'll reach 100 points on a more regular basis perhaps. I wish I could've seen the team play multiple sets and defend for a 5 minute stretch, but I'll take your words for it, guys, that the offense looks pretty. Once LeBron starts seeing much time, he better not get stuck in the ball pounding mode too often! Hopefully, Mike learned from last year's "I'll-teach-you-guys-offense-and-trust-you'll-remember-how-to-play-defense" so we don't make the same mistakes...
