Pryor eligible for the supplemental draft but suspended for the first 5 games

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think he ultimately just wasn’t that good and benefited from a lack of meaningful competition here.
The results bear this out - I was more thinking he could have made more money with the Browns rather than taking a "prove it" contract with the Redskins.

ETA: just googled - didn't realize he got $8M from Washington. Thought it was worth a lot less than that. Maybe not a bad move, financially?

Browns had offered him multiple years around that number, IIRC.

Pryor received $6m from the Redskins, the other $2m were incentives that he definitely did not hit

The Browns went out and signed Kenny Britt to 4 yrs $32.5m with $17m guaranteed. However, Britt only "earned" $10.5m guaranteed at signing. The other $6.5m would've been guaranteed if he'd still been on the roster entering the 2018 season, but they cut him in December the day after John Dorsey took over.

So if that Britt contract were on the table for TP, he missed out on at least $4.5m

Because I’m a team player and a phenomenal sport- I will give credit where credit is due….Well played you sweet bastard…Well played…

Calling upon all the substantial haters and supporters….This is how it’s done…

That contract was on the table for Pryor. He turned it down thinking he'd get more on the open market.

He also wasn't actually that good for the Browns. They just threw it to him a ton. 12th in the NFL in targets, but 22nd in yards and only 7.2 yards per target which is quite low.

Yep. For whatever reason hue Jackson and Al Saunders were able to get the most out of him. He looked like a future star. But he let money issues get in the way of that.

The reason was he knew that offense in and out as a QB. He was playing under Hue or Al Saunders for his whole NFL career other than the one year he was with the Seahawks/Chiefs before coming to the Browns.

Pryor had the speed and size to place him anywhere on the field. Pair that with his knowledge of the offense and knowing what adjustments a QB would also want for that offense, it allowed Hue and Al Saunders to plug him in anywhere on offense. They could search for mismatches and exploit it with him.

He just didn't have that luxury when he left the Browns. He most likely would have fell off with another coach and system even if he stayed with the Browns. Just not enough reps and practice time for him to learn another offense like he knew Hue and Al Saunders offense.

It's kind of like Taysom Hill and how they can plug him in all around the field with New Orleans. I feel like Hill would be a lot like Pryor if he had to go to another team and another system. Pryor has the height and speed advantage over Hill which I think made him a better WR.
