Credit to Doug for bringing it up first, but thought the news deserved its own thread.

Terrelle Pryor has ended his playing career at Ohio State, his lawyer, Larry James said this evening in a phone call with the Plain Dealer.

"In the best interest of my team, I have decided to forego my senior year of football at the Ohio State University," James said, reading a statement on behalf of his client.

James said Pryor had been considering this option for several days and made the choice this evening, leaving James' office in Columbus just before 6 p.m.

James said the decision does not mean that Pryor will necessarily be facing further NCAA sanctions that could have ended his Ohio State career, but the quarterback, who would have been a senior this fall, made this choice now. He was already facing a five-game suspension at the start of the 2011 season for trading memorabilia to a Columbus tattoo artist for money and tattoos.

"We've talked about the emotional roller coaster that he is going through," James told the Plain Dealer, "and even if he was cleared 100 percent it was going to be difficult."

James said Pryor has not decided if he will enter the NFL's supplemental draft. If he applies to the league, that draft could be held in July, where Pryor would likely be a mid-round pick. At the moment, James said Pryor is considering staying at Ohio State and finishing his last year as a student.

"He'll take the next couple days to collect this thoughts," James said. "Right now, when you reach closure, it's very emotional."

i said it before, I think Pryor had played his last game of collegiate football. I am betting more players will quit the team in the following weeks/months.

That guy never fit in the Scarlet and Gray. His ego and abrasive personality was something he should have brought to Michigan. The fact that he opened his mouth to defend LeBron James was the icing on the cake. He lost a lot of fans in this fine state for that, alone. The scandal was only adding to his image.

Thanks for the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl victories but you've worn out your welcome with all the extra non-sense. Good luck with your future clipboard holding endeavors!

His ego was bigger than his talent level.

Not a consistent passing QB in the least bit.

While he was fun to watch at times (on the ground, at least), he is nowhere near the hype. Hell, he's not even tOSU's best run first QB over the past 10 years. Craig Krenzel made better decisions, was more accurate, had unbelieveable heart, and won a National Championship.

Said he was extremely overrated from day 1. He throws like a bitch.

He could make an impact in the NFL as a WR/TE

Someone said this on another board, but it bears repeating....

Pryor went 31-5 as the Buckeyes starter, was 3-0 against Michigan, and quarterbacked 2 BCS bowl victories and yet his reputation and legacy is completely in the toilet and will probably never recover.

Pretty amazing stuff.

I posted this some time ago in the Rumors at OSU thread. Incarcerated bob guy knows his stuff.

That incarcerated bob dude from twitter who apparently knows info a couples before the mainstream media has tweeted that Terrell Pryor is leaving OSU and going to try to get into the supplemental draft or whatever. If he can't get into that he will try to go to the CFL for one season. He also tweeted OSU or someone with Terrell Pryor are threatening to sue this guy for saying this info. incarcerated bob is his twitter name but you have to follow him to see his tweets.

Pryor went 31-5, or the Buckeyes and they're always great defense went 31-5?

I'm enjoying the cover-up already. Nobody is bigger than the program.

Not sure that Ohio State is using Pryor as a cover up? Pryor chose to leave, the University didn't declare him ineligible.

Ohio State is taking blame as well. They basically forced Tressel into resignation and seems that they are cooperating very well with the investigation.
