Appreciate all the suggestions and by the sound of it, might be adding Space Jam 2 to that list shortly.

Any suggestions for some laughably bad movies? Throughout quarantine shitting on movies a la Mystery Science Theater 3000 style brought me and the lady immense joy but we've been running out of options / striking out as of late.

The only rule is that it has to be a major studio film and released in theaters. No direct-to-dvd bullsniz. No need to suggest Prince of Persia, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Ben-Hur (remake), Look Who's Talking, Look Who's Talking Too, Look Who's Talking Now, Battlefield Earth, The Great Wall, Remember The Titans, Clash of the Titans, Gods of Egypt, Cats, Season of The Witch, The Core, Michael, Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider 2, and Zack Synder's Justice League.

And if anyone is curious, the answer is, and likely always will be Battlefield Earth.

if you want to watch a movie just to count how many way's it's ridiculously stupid, watch The Cloverfield Paradox. You won't need any others for your list after that. I watched it on a flight where it was free and I'd already seen the other choices. I watched it again with my kids just so we could count all of the stupid stuff, any one of which might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a movie, which lasted all the way to the closing credits. We lost track.

The opening scene of Space Jam might be the most cringe worthy thing I've seen on a screen.

It has some entertaining moments and I think kids will like it. But yeah there are some rough patches.

I will watch it this week.

The first half hour was LeBron masturbating.

After that, it was what you expect. I actually didn't mind the trip through WB properties even though it's just blatant advertising of dead IP.

Space Jam 2 was good. Wasn't expecting an Oscar-winner (Space Jam was also fun but wasn't great either). Kids will enjoy it and adults who don't hate LeBron will too.

Why the fuck is this movie called Space Jam? They got rid of everything having to do with space.

The original movie barely had anything to do with space too. Like, there were aliens, but everything outside of like one scene to establish them took place on either human Earth or the Looney Tunes dimension.

Maybe one of the greatest — if not the greatest “it’s so bad it is good” movies, is Roadhouse.

Patrick Swayze’s finest performance? No — that would be Point Break.

Personally, I think the best "so bad it's good" movie is Face/Off. It's simultaneously the dumbest movie you'll ever see and one of the greatest action movies of all time. You get two insane actors in Cage and Travolta and absolutely no one even attempting to rein them in.

I am not sure it counts though.

It was critically acclaimed when it came out.

Weird concept but it was well-liked.

I think it's indisputably a bad movie. It's just also fucking awesome.
It is in the genre of a bad film.

Whereas it is true its reputation has grown over the years, it was still critically acclaimed when it came out. It cannot be a bad movie when the consensus amongst critics who would normally lambast the mindless action genre hailed it as uniquely good.

But here's the thing...if a bad movie is awesome, should it not get positive reviews? I think Face/Off delivered on what it promised: a ridiculous, over the top premise with two crazy people trying to out crazy each other in a world where everything explodes. It's a dumb movie that makes absolutely no sense and is over the top absurd, but that's the charm of it.

I'd liken it to a film like Crank or its sequel. Both are bad movies. Both are a lot of fun and I think accomplish what they set out to. A movie doesn't have to be "good" to be fun. Hell, most of the modern Fast & Furious movies fall into this as well. People love them, but we all know that they are bad movies.

As a side note, I'd say that The Rock is an example of a movie that is very similar to Face/Off but actually manages to be a good film, probably mostly due to Ed Harris crushing the performance of the villain with a righteous cause and Connery basically playing old man Bond. Whereas in Face/Off, Cage has gold guns with dragons on them and tells women to suck his tongue. Both wonderful performances. One is actually good. One is hilariously bad and thus somehow amazing.
