The Watch on the Ringer explains pretty good this stuff that is going on with Batgirl movie and HBO max/Discovery/Warner's. It seems they want to make a more consistent universe for DC and Batgirl might add to the confusion since Michael Keaton plays Batman in it. Also they want to write off the movie as some bigger accounting process that no one seems to understand.

With the HBO Max restructuring, it seems that HBO and HBO max were bidding against each other for content. It seems like they are making the distinction of what Discovery will do and what HBO will go after so they aren't driving up the price of acquiring content.

I think somehow they're going to use Flash to reset everything. IIRC this is a multiverse movie as Keaton was slotted to appear in this as well.

Gotta clean it up somehow because you have a new Batman franchise that is extremely sustainable IMO. You have a picture perfect Superman & a pretty good Aquaman as well as wonderwoman. Just gotta clean up continuity and ultimately get rid of all previous Batman & Flash characters.

The girl in the movie does look quite a bit like her, but it's definitely not her.

It was a pretty solid movie, though. Definitely the best Predator movie since the original. The only qualm I had was that some of the CGI animals looked kind of shitty.

I thought it was a pretty brilliant touch to have the vast majority of the non-Commanche characters to speak French that wasn't subtitled, which effectively made them almost as alien as the Predator for the viewer (unless you understand French, obviously) since the main characters can't understand them either. Really clever and made the movie better.
 
Saw Prey and Black Phone.

Prey is like a 9/10. Good fun.

Black Phone was a 7- I really enjoyed it. Entry level psycho-thriller. Had one really well done jump scare.
 
Nope - 7/10

The first hour and twenty minutes or so were a 9. The last forty minutes was more like a 5. I loved it when this was a horror movie, and there was some truly gorgeous cinematography and some really tense sequences. The last act kind of sucked.

For me, an 8. My wife would say 6.

I just thought it was clever enough that being very limited in the jump scare department didn’t hinder it.
