Creed 3 - c
it's a balancing act with Dame and I don't like how it's pulled off. He ends up too heel to like at the end. They don't flip him enough back the other way a la Warrior to make it what it could have been.
The dudes skill also is not developed in a believable way. He's a guy who's never won except a fluke fight and he's supposed to beat Creed. Ya I know he's past his prime. This is just some bum who sucked during sparring and showed nothing, and is suddenly a powerhouse.
The weight classes are just all fucked.
Michael b is not a good actor.
You do not get that jacked in prison. Lol.
There wasnt a resolution to his daughters dilemma - when to fight and when talking it out is the answer - which was really interesting when it was presented. Missed opportunity.
Cutting the crowd during the fight was a miss.
Dukes appeal to emotion to inspire rather than keep it logical could have been written much better. "Creed, you know how to fight. Fuck, you don't need me to tell you that. You need to go out there and beat this bitches fucking ass man."
The person I went with..sides with the antagonist. Creed was not a hero, he left the dude, the dude had his back. Creed was wrong. Creed left him to rot in prison. His heel turn eventually did have some bite to it, but the start of it - where he just worked the guys busted shoulder - was supposed to have done all the work. Cheap.
I'm pretty surprised Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the oscars. I thought the movie was pretty flawed when it went into the absurd in a few places.
Of the ones I watched I thought The Fabelmans would win best picture and best director.

Some movies I’ve seen recently
Avatar 2: A- I really enjoyed the first one and thought this one was great. Yes it is long. Yes the story I’m sure has a ton of holes in it but I had a good time at the movies and it felt like an experience that you should have in the theater. The visuals are a 10/10 for me. I definitely enjoyed going back to Pandora.
Banshees if Ilshirin: D I did not like this movie. Sure the acting was great but the story and mood just didn’t do it for me. Slow and pointless.
Elvis. C+ Great job by the lead actor but overall I thought it was a weak popcorn movie and Tom Hanks as the Col was just not working for me.
Black Panther 2: B- it was a good sequel considering the main dude died in real life. This felt longer than Avatar 2. It accomplished what a Marvel needs to do. But I’m looking forward to Ant Man more.
The Whale: C Ok I don’t mean to fat shame, but I felt disgusted in a lot of parts of this. It actually is an Ok movie and Fraser definitely deserves the Oscar praise he is receiving but just not for me.
I don't want it to seem like I hated the whale. I was thoroughly engaged. But it was really flawed.
Arnofksy writes conversation in a completely unrealistic way. A lot was way too on the nose.
Sure maybe. But why? Why do that? Does that tie anything up in a meaningful or impactful way?I actually think this is part of the movie.
The main character is writing professor trying to teach his daughter and his students to write what they want to write. To take ownership of their writing. The ending especially is on the nose but I question if it is reality at all. I think the moment he hovers with the light bathing him, you have to question if the whole sequence is a hallucination as he dies. He has set this up for how he wants to die but I do question if this is actually how he dies. His daughters essay even hints to this too. I think at some point he starts hallucinating his perfect way to die and we as the audience go along with that with him instead of the reality of how he dies. He basically has multiple moments from the very start of the movie on when he could have died from a heart attack. Even the very first moment of the movie could have been where he actually dies but he envision his storybook ending to his death.

Hasn’t it already come out that they were fake allegations?Watching Creed III. Jonathan Majors is a spectacular asshole, which might have been a more impressive performance if not for the recent news that he's probably actually a spectacular asshole in real life.
