Yeah, read that this morning, and it was like "Who cares?"....I guess they want to show that they've done 'due diligence' and have interviewed 'alot of people' and 'important people' and such. We've reached a level of nonsense with this that I really don't care any more.

Nothing concrete, but there were, I think, some possible clues on the direction they're going.

The biggest are the key themes they're using to decide the new name:

1) Connect to the city of Cleveland
2) Preserve our rich baseball history
3) Unite the community

Looking at these three themes, I don't think this is good news for "Spiders" fans. "Buckeyes" checks all three boxes but I don't think OSU allows it to happen, and Cleveland knows that. I personally think this favors something like "Guardians", and it may or may not be a coincidence that the Guardians are prominently displayed in one of the pictures they used on the name change site.

And honestly, Guardians is what I’m pulling for at this point.
 
At this point I would love to see an Andy Kaufman level troll and after a several year search they change the name to something like the Cleveland Native Americans.

For the record I am team Spider

Also for the record, I root for the baseball team from Clevleand, no matter the name or mascot, so whatever they end up with I will be fine with.
 
I kinda like the Forest City Baseball Club. Beats all those other options IMO. If the Uni's wouldn't look worse than the Astros from the 70's, I'd say change the colors to Green and brown to correspond.

I'm pulling for Commodores. The alliteration works, and it's a strong link to Lake Erie.
 
Yeah, I am definitely pro-Spiders, for a number of reasons...think it has tremendous marketing upside with Marvel, etc.
I like Guardians (and love them as enhancements to our Bridges), but not sure that it will translate well.
I have no issue with issue with "Lake themed" names, if we can avoid being a fish (Walleye, etc).
I would hate the Rockers/Rocks, but they'd still be my team in any case!
