The 2021 Cleveland Baseball Organization

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Chase field or whatever it's called these days is a pretty lousy stadium. Considering Coors field (a great ball park) was essentially built at the same time it is weird how "bad" Chase is.

So bad. I also hate Guarntee Rate field.

I just dont think the roof thing for a summer sport in Cleveland is that big of a deal, but I havent lived in Clevleand for 20 years so maybe i am wrong, for sure not a hill i am willing to die on, lol

Milwaukee and Seattle both have retractable roofs and both are supposed to be great parks... So you can design a great one with a retractable roof, but it's hard to add one when the structure is designed to be open air...

What about instead of a retractable roof, a fully retractable stadium? When it's not GameDay, it retracts underground, leaving inner city greenspace for all you enjoy. Or a craft brewery district for nightlife. Or for a more old school feel, a residential neighborhood. All kinds of possibilities, and it completely one-ups every other stadium.

OK.

If you dont like wRC+ as a measurement, Jones OPS at home is a robust .703.
I like wRC+, especially since it already takes park factors into account. I don’t like implying that playing at a hitters park increases wRC+.

Playing in a hitters park does increase wRC+, IF a batter takes advantage of playing half his games there, which Jones has not.

And thats the point. Jones is a well below average hitter in a park that should boost his numbers, not crater them.

In any case, this season doesn't indicate what Jones will eventually become, but it does suggest strongly that he hasn't made an advance towards MLB readiness. Hopefully, a second season in Columbus will change all that. It isn't a bit unusual for a prospect to need a second season at a level to take a step or two forward...and the missed season makes it even more likely.

A strong first half next season in Columbus would put him on the immediate radar, esp if there was a need in Cleveland for a position he played. Even if Jose was traded this winter, I think it is highly unlikely that the FO would pencil Jones in at third for opening day. It would more likely be destructive.

I don't think we have the funds for the tech of something like that just yet! Maybe they could do that in LA though...

I really enjoy Minute Maid Park in Houston, and we have a retractable roof.

We also have unbearable summer heat and humidity combos though.

On a plus note with Nolan Jones, his platoon splits have evened out somewhat this year. Hitting about .220 against both lefties and righties....

Perez to the DL with right shoulder inflammation. No way they can pick-up his option this off-season. Can’t pay that much for a guy who will spend half the year on the IL

That might be close to the end for Roberto.

Love the guy. But his body and breaking down and he's hitting .136.

One of my favorite guys to play here though.

Until the option is declined and Roberto is on another club, don't count on it.
I am not arguing for the move or against that move.
Fans have been proclaiming the end of Perez for multiple years (and the departure of Hedges entering last off-season) but he is still here (as is Hedges).

Zero chance they add a roof, just not cost effective. Not sure you need one as much for baseball. The Browns should of had some type of covered stadium though, winters are insane and the winter lake winds make some games un playable.

Its ok, here in Pheonix we have a retractible roof and its one of the worst stadiums I have ever been in.

There are a lot more bad weather baseball games in Cleveland than football games. In March-April-May it's more likely to be cold or rainy at the stadium than 60ish and sunny/warm. Nobody wants to buy advance tickets when it's apt to be 40-45 degree weather at 8 or 9 pm downtown. That's no way to watch baseball IMO. Football fans, OTOH, usually come dressed for colder weather and most games are played in the early afternoon. We don't usually get any game day snow until late December if at all. IMO a roof would be wasted on the football stadium, but would help bring fans in for baseball games before June.
