The Chubb-Hub Yardage Delivery Service

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the receiving element for RBs is way, way overplayed

If the Browns had the same dogshit talent on offense that the Giants had do we really think Chubb would trip over his own cock on every route and not rack up the same volume meaningless catches as Barkley. Someone said upthread Hunt is one of the best receiving backs in the NFL. I agree. Now look at his receiving numbers compared to the backs in shit offenses with no other options

If we needed Chubb as a receiver, he would perform as a receiver. We don’t need Chubb as a receiver. People vastly overrate the talent needed to take a dump off pass on 3rd and 12 and gain 8 yards

If all a back can do is catch the swing pass, then run the occasional wheel, that's not a receiving back.

CMC, Ekeler, Kamara, old David Johnson... James White, Le'Veon Bell... these are guys who do things in the pass game that Chubb can't. They can run legit pass patterns and beat DB's. That's fine, because Chubb might be the best runner in the NFL. There are just some things that other backs are better than him at.

Very good running backs average 4.1 Yards per *carry* for their careers...he averages 4.1 yards after you touch him... #Unreal
Yeah when I first saw the stat my brain went "4.1 yards per carry, that's not great but not terrible... Oh wait..."

I had the same thought process. What hit me especially is that its for his *career*. Like, you can expect a really good year, or two, but he's going on year 3 and he doesn't seem to be coming back down to earth. His first 2yrs were with absolute trash offensive lines, too, so its not like he had done of wide open lanes and had defenders arms reaching out to touch him.

I feel like this got overlooked as it’s such a small adjustment, but I really liked how Chubb ditched the gloves in rain after the first drive. IIRC, when Chubb had those two fumbles against New England it was in the rain.

This reply stuck out to me. Just staggering.

Dude has so much speed from his track experience remaining, very fortunate for us!

Pretty sure that, if he hadn't shredded his knee, he'd have been the 1B to Barkley's 1A in that RB class from a draft capital perspective. He had 1760 scrimmage yards as a freshman and averaged 7.1 yards per carry. As a sophomore, he was averaging 8.1 YPC and had almost 750 yards in six games before he tore up his knee. He never got above 6.0 per carry again during his college career, but I think we can safely assume that was probably because he was still recovering from a major knee injury.

If he never gets hurt, I don't think there's any way he falls to round two, at least assuming his production didn't fall off significantly.
