The Donovan Peoples-Jones Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wish I could explain why DPJ didn't get targets. He's a fairly good separator, but he wasn't thrown at a lot.

I think we should expect a poor man's Ted Ginn Jr, and if he is anything more than that, it's gravy.

Except he has way better body control and way better at highpointing and getting the ball.

Ted Ginn Jr. is not a very good comp at all.

Jones is okay at it, but he definitely body catches way too much on routes that he can. When he does high point the ball, like he did against Indiana, he can make special plays.

The Ted Ginn comp is a nice way of saying "maybe he's just a kick/punt returner".

Like, we're really having half this thread talking about OSU fans making fun of Michigan? On an Ohio based sport forum? Really.

Making fun of your rival in a playful manner is one of the great things about college football.

Yes...except this is the Browns forum, not the college football forum.

If someone insists on reliving their college Glory Days, they could do it in that forum.

Yes...except that it's ridiculous to mock a player drafted by the Browns just because he went to Michigan.

At some point, college is over. No matter how much some people keep wanting to relive their Glory Days.
As far as mocking goes, thats pretty tame.

Players in the pros trade barbs over their alma maters all the time. I don't get how this somehow crosses a line.

There may be good times to tease about alma maters and affiliations. But when a rookie player is newly drafted to the NFL team you root for, that is clearly NOT the time to tease, harass, or otherwise pick that scab. Especially from a so-called radio sports personality.

Once a player has been on-boarded, and properly received his initial welcome, then some ribbing as fine, as long as it's of the good-natured variety that happens between players. Coming from fans I'd say it's weak at best.

Eh, agreed on it being pretty weak co_ing fro_ the _edia, but to say fans can’t poke fun is a little _uch, I_O.

Sorry, had to

I’ll be honest; Ohio State fans and their elitism is the absolute worst, and the smark OSU fans really take the cake.

It happened with Jabrill. It happened with Braylon. It’ll happen with every other UM athlete that comes here. It’s annoying and completely pointless, because if any one met these athletes, they’d say absolutely nothing about it.

This, of course, coming from someone who roots for neither school.

It's just so bush league. I mean, college rivalries are fine...in college. Or if it is mutual ribbing between friends who are grads of different school, that's fine. But this weird thing of carrying it on beyond that...it's like Andy from The Office obsessing over being a Cornell grad. At some point, it's like "dude...college is over."

If DPJ has half the career Ginn has had, this pick is a success.

If you judge Ginn off Football Reference's Weighted Career Approximate Value (which admittedly is not perfect), he has produced the 23rd best career out of his 255 player draft class.

16,629 all-purpose yards and 44 career touchdowns.

Navy. So obviously, we have a rival.

Personally, I think those kind of OSU fans are just compensating for the inferiority complex they feel because Michigan is a better school academically.

:chuckle:

Ah so your alma mater sucks.
