The Donovan Peoples-Jones Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can a mod remove the sc from scUM? its really a bad look for a Browns player, who cares where he played

So i saw the title and saw i won, one last question, can we change the name of the website to RPF, Real Pistons Fans?

Ok, that one might have been to far.

Navy. So obviously, we have a rival.

Personally, I think those kind of OSU fans are just compensating for the inferiority complex they feel because Michigan is a better school academically.

:chuckle:

Wow, before the joke coming, you went to the Naval Academy? Respect.

So is your rival the AIr Force? Or is it other Naval Academy's from other countries like England and Canada?

Also work in a David Robinson story about the time you met him and told him he was Robin to Duncan's Batman.

DVP was underutilized. When Harbaugh switched from a more pro-style offense to whatever abomination he called last year, it hurt quite a few prospects from gaining an advantage on becoming NFL prospects.

I didn't do much scouting this past season, but the previous year I had Jones as a day 2 pick with possibility of a late 1st day pick. He has great size, speed and athleticism to be a potential great #2 WR. He was never developed properly at Michigan. He should thrive on STs this year and contribute more and more as the season progresses entrenching himself as our #3 by years end. I hope he piggybacks Landry as his mentor.

And its not like he dropped the ball or anything. His initial burst on his routes are an issue, and he doesnt set up routes that great, but is a fantastic one cut route runner. So he fits in the type of offense we will be running very well, but he wont be confused for Jerry Rice. SO what he has a chance to be a very productive #2 level receiver in my opinion which is great for the 6th round.

It's just so bush league. I mean, college rivalries are fine...in college. Or if it is mutual ribbing between friends who are grads of different school, that's fine. But this weird thing of carrying it on beyond that...it's like Andy from The Office obsessing over being a Cornell grad. At some point, it's like "dude...college is over."

The icing, so to speak, is that most OSU fans... didn’t go to Ohio State.

So it’s a lot of grown adults, who didn’t go there, ragging on 21-23 year olds because they chose a school to play football at... the rival of a school they didn’t go to? Erm...

Heh. Obviously West Point/Army, and it is a rather intense rivalry, including for some reasons largely inapplicable to most other schools. I'll just say that for plebes, whether we win or lose against Army has a significant impact on daily life. There is a difference between a good sports rivalry, and the actual hatred - or at least true dislike - that seems to characterize some rivalries. Or at least the way some fans view them. We get together with Army grads every year to watch the game as a group. It can get pretty passionate, but it never gets nasty.

I overlapped with him, but didn't know him personally. The guys I know who did know him personally had nothing but positive things to say about him. He always knew his shit as a plebe, and was a very good student in a tough major. Very well-liked/well-respected by other grads.

Wait, people are a lesser fan if they didn’t go to the university they are fans of? I don’t think there is actually any malicious intent to any of these players at all. It’s a friendly joke and rivalry. I went to Ohio State and “hate” that team up north too. Do I really hate them? No..I was ecstatic when we got Peppers because I thought he had a chance to make and impact and I’m very happy to get Peoples-Jones because I think he could turn out to be a steal.

It’s ridiculous to make a big deal about that. I mean...did anyone even rag on People-Jones or was it the scUM that hurt people’s feelings?

Okay, you don’t just mention DVP casually lile that. It’s some pretty extreme stuff and parameters need to be discussed first — not to mention work warnings.

Why is that okay to discuss in here right under a blue username’s nose?

But no, we can’t innocuously jab alma maters.

DVP? Discuss.

I'll be glad if they bring Higgins back and ease this guy into the offense throughout the year. Unless he's a truly special talent, he'll need time to develop and learn on offense.

Has anyone been able to find a drops tape for him? If not, do people who watched Michigan more know what his drops were like? Concentration or bad technique?

The highlight film I’ve seen make this look like a no brainer and a steal.

That's normal. I'm an OSU fan even though I didn't go there, and I boo Michigan. Though I admittedly root for any Big Ten team in the playoffs, or if they're playing another national power.

For me personally -- and this is just me -- there are fans who go beyond the normal rivalry thing into actual dislike. And while that's kind of questionable for most fans, it crosses into the weird (to me at least) where you're one of those "active dislikers", or even haters, who didn't even go to the school in question.
