I don't know if this needs its own thread or not, but if some are going to wait and binge, then might as well.

I'd prefer for this to be spoilers allowed for episodes that have already aired and not for what's ahead based on the video game.

I'm getting a handle on the zombies.

I see that they can communicate through a fungal network, which is supposedly different from the game. That's pretty cool.

Are they blind but not deaf? Are just some of them that way? It looks like some have crazier heads than others. Is that the final form?

It was pretty gross/cool when the zombie gave Tess the kiss of death with those little feelers.

What are the zombies called anyway?

Haven't played the game, but I watched the after show stuff about the episode and they're called "clickers".

They did go into some depth about where they varied from the game, but they worked very closely with the writers/developers for the game and they were on board with the changes. One thing they mentioned is that the game had the military as the main enemy, at least early on, but they didn't think that would work as well on the show so they put more emphasis on the clickers being the main enemy.

Very clear that they respect the source material.

The ones in the museum were blind, but that's something that, based on the game lore, is only for infected that have lasted longer than a year. Newly infected people can still see. As Q-Tip said, they're called clickers.

Neil Druckmann, who wrote and produced the games, is a co-showrunner on the series, and I believe he also directed last night's episode.

The ones that are still somewhat human are called runners.

The kiss of death thing is a show exclusive.

Fun fact about the runners that I don’t know whether or not they’re going to reveal in the show, but the game devs have definitely mentioned in the past…

The runners still have some semblance of their humanity/consciousness - as in, they are aware of their actions, but are unable to stop themselves. In the games, you can even hear runners crying and talking, saying things like “why” and “stop” and “I’m sorry.” They are essentially fully aware vessels of the fungus.

The ones from the museum are called clickers. They are blind, but have increased hearing sensitivity and use echolocation to find their prey, similar to bats.

Generally speaking, the longer the host body survives, the more mutated it becomes.

The clicker is not the final form. Definitely some foreshadowing when Joel starts talking about how some of the infected have survived for 20 years.

Am I missing something that explains why this topic is "The Rest of Us" rather than "The Last of Us"?

Just go with it …

I didn't even notice it at first, then figured it was something from the game that maybe I didn't know.

Not really sure why I never played it, because I usually like survival horror and knew it was out there.

Tonight’s episode may have been the best performance of Nick Offerman’s career. Murray Bartlett was fantastic as well.

He’s come a long way from shitting in other people’s briefcases :chuckle:
