The next star or super star safari.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Paul George can tell the entire NBA not to trade for him because he won't re-sign with them.

In that case, Indiana can take TT and some combo of JR/Shump/Cedi, or they can let him walk for nothing.
If the Lakers rumors are true I could see them still trying to make the trade. One of Kyrie/Love would have to go.

Not saying this is a realistic scenario by any means, but the salaries work and it sheds JR:

Indiana receives:
JR Smith
Jaylen Brown
Terry Rozier
#1 pick in the 2017 Draft

Boston receives:
Kevin Love
2nd rounder from Indiana

Cleveland receives:
Paul George
Amir Johnson

Why would Boston ever do this? Fultz and Brown for Love?

How about

Love to LAC
Griffin and Picks to IND
George to CLE

That is at least a reasonable trade for all.

Isn't this just a completely lateral move?

The Warriors still have 4 superstars to our 3.. (If you can consider Irving one at all since he doesn't play both ways)

Not if Griffin leaves in free agency.

Trading Love in a 3-way for George is about the only thing that makes much sense to me. As others have pointed out though, this makes us super thin in the front court would need to rely on the hope of trading Smith for a big or getting some useful vets on min contracts.

Anyway a trade centered around these guys is possible?

Cavs Get:
George
Adams

Thunder Get:
Love

Indy Gets:
TT
Alex Abrines
Plus picks?

Cavs would then be able to run:
PG: Kyrie
SG: ??
SF: George
PF: James
C: Adams

In theory this would make them a significantly better defensive team. Would need to find some creative ways to add depth. Westbrook, Oladipo, and Love could be a real interesting trio. Maybe Love keeps Westbrook in OKC? Indy gets a young PF that can play next to Turner, a young SG with high upside, and maybe a pick or two. Seems solid for everyone.

Why not just keep Love in this scenario..

While it may not seem realistic, a trade where we send out Love for George is really not that much of an upgrade. It is an upgrade, to be sure, but we really need something like KI-PG-LBJ-Love to compete with the Warriors 4.

Basically, we need 4 players as good as Love or better.

How about this as a baseline deal?

Cleveland
- Paul George

Portland
- Kevin Love

Indiana
- CJ McCollum + Portland 2017 1st-rounder No. 15 or 20

Cavs assume PG-13's contract risk.

Portland gets all-star big to pair with Lillard. Clear out SG logjam.

Pacers get 25-year-old elite shooter on fresh 4-year deal and picks.

We're playing our ass off and Golden State is wiping the floor with us almost effortlessly. It sucks but it's what is happening.
I disagree that any player with the exception of Love and LeBron is "playing their ass off"; in fact, I feel they're all playing like a bunch of guys who have mentally checked out for the summer.

Not that I disagree, but basically the Cavs have to find a way to steal someone. The most obvious scenario would seem to be trading scraps for Melo (doubtful) and then trading Love for George or Butler. Then you're running with Kyrie, Butler/George, Melo, Bron, and maybe TT. How those 4 play together on offense I have no clue.

I agree. We need to find a way to keep Kyrie, LeBron, and Kevin while acquiring PG. Not sure how though..

Just to clarify, the info I was told was to make the Cavs a "big 4"....

That to me means Love and Kyrie aren't apart of the deal....

One deal I've heard elsewhere but doesn't make a ton of sense to me because Kyrie is so young is:

Kyrie
Love
Thompson

For

Chris Paul
Blake Griffin
DeAndre Jordan

As part of this deal Clippers would have to sweeten it by taking on a bad contract like JR or give us other assets in terms of draft picks.

With CP3 being 32 I cringe a bit, but it'd be interesting to see a front-court as athletic as LeBron, Griffin, and Jordan. My god....and Jordan is a significantly better player than TT. Griffin and Love are fairly close assuming Griffin bounces back from his injury and slightly down year. Having a rim protector like DJ behind LeBron would be interesting....he's never had an athletic presence like that behind him.

And Clippers would jump all over that deal...they wanna move Griffin, CP3 has wandering eyes, and Jordan has minimal value if either CP3 or Griffin get moved.

My god that would be an awful deal. Hopefully "elsewhere" is mindless speculation on another message board.

Basically...

The Paul George info isn't mindless speculation.

But I don't think that LA is as bad as it seems after jumping into it a bit. The Clippers have had success in past actually guarding KD with CP3 because the guy is a pitbull. Having the athleticism Of LeBron, Griffin, and Jordan would be pretty spectacular. 3 guys who all play above the rim, Griffin's outside shot has improved a lot so he can stretch the court from 4, and a true distributor at PG who plays much better D than Kyrie although significantly older.

And IMO, Jordan is significantly better than TT. That kinda swings the deal into an acceptable range to me....
