The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We knew what was going to happen for around the first five seasons of the show and it was never an issue. If anything, it made it more fun watching the show with casuals who never read the books.

Right, I had a blast still, which is why I said “for some.” Anyone who is even slightly a fan of GoT I imagine will watch this show if it gets positive buzz. I understand the bitterness after Season 8 but anyone who truly loves the world will tune in if the show is good. JMO. :chuckle:

I'm all the way back in. I never had the same venom for the last season that others had. It certainly was not up to the same quality that the earlier seasons were, but I still enjoyed it, especially the first two episodes. Certainly won't let a lackluster finish to GOT stop me from having an open mind when it comes to House of the Dragon. I'm excited to see what kind of vision new show runners, directors, actors, etc. will bring to the universe. Certainly a lot to work with. Helps that there is already a path laid out for them in terms of source material.

Plus, I love having friends over for watch parties and House of the Dragon will be a great excuse for one. :chuckle:

It's also not the same showrunners.

The guy overseeing the show directed some of the best battle scenes in the show (including Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards), and is apparently a huge fan of the books who has known Martin since before the original show was created.

And he didn't write any of the episodes he directed, so he probably can't be faulted for some of the logical fallacies in them. His job was just to make them look good and he definitely accomplished that.

That definitely makes me optimistic too.

I dunno. I hated season 8 but I still love this world. I’m actually pretty excited for this shit.

I think it was smart to hire a guy well-versed with the visual aspects of the world but not someone who can be blamed for the direction the show went at the end, as he wasn't a writer for the show.

While Stannis himself would be a terribly unfunny host, I'd have paid a lot to see Norm as one of his guests. Everyone else would have been scared to death that they'd tick him off, but Norm would have let it fly.

Now that the two shitheads david benioff and d.b. weiss are off the project, I have no doubts that this will be good.

Davos would have to be in the Andy Richter role.
I envision a 90s Conan vibe.

But a new band-leader is burned at the stake after every show.

I think a mid-90's era Chevy Chase show is probably closer to the truth.

No way.

Stannis wouldn't try being funny. That's the beauty of it.

The classic straight-man/goofy side kick set-up.

The show itself is a 90s Conan style type skit. It's so unfunny its funny.

Indeed, the first show would be burning Chevy Chase at the stake.

All would rejoice.

Thread got bad quick. :chuckle:

I'll also say the Targaryen history in Westeros isn't really my cup of tea in the lore.

I'd have rather went back further in time to Valyria or the Children and the First Men.

I used to not want to see it as i was afraid it would have revealed too much and sorta given away the main story but...he's not finishing so who cares at this point.
