The Restaurant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would do anything for y’all Ohio people to have legit Mexican food that isn’t trying to be upscale.

Or even like… family owned versions of Taco Bell we have in AZ. California burritos would be massive in Ohio- carne asada, fries, guac, cheese.

Either way, would trade for Romanburger.

Blue Habanero is basically Tres Potrillos with a scaled back menu trying to look a bit more "upscale", if that makes sense. I believe pretty much everything on their menu is on Tres's menu. I don't think they have El Chavo- it's mostly street tacos and then maybe 10 entrees.

I think both places are significantly better than a lot of the other mexican I've tried in the area. Cozumel and Si Senor in particular I've been extremely unimpressed with.
Yeah, the tacos at Blue Habanero are pretty good. I’ve only ever been to the one in Brecksville so can’t speak to the one in Gordon Square. They’ve got great margs too.

I personally enjoy Cozumel but part of that may be a nostalgia thing. Been eating there for two decades haha.

On the subject of Cordelia and Blue Habanero (Strongsville), which have moved into Lola and B-Spot (Strongsville). I think it's incredibly disappointing that Michael Symon, who is quick to point to his pride in his hometown, has very little of a footprint left in NE Ohio.
Yup. Glad someone said it. No surprise though when the guy doesn’t even keep a home here anymore.

Symon is just a celeb. Zach, Dante and Eric Williams have always provided better food.

Symon's best place, for me, was Lolita. Still the best happy hour around. $5 mac and cheese, $5 burger. You basically have a meal for two right there.

@DJTJ Momocho is pretty good Mexican. If I want actual Mexican street tacos, Taqueria La Loma is the best in the area, but it's way out in the middle of nowhere, East of Akron. Just a Mexican grocery store, with the second half a taco stand. Gotta get there early if you want the Lingua!

Me and my family love Indie. We've gone three times for brunch in the last two months. Probably not great for dinner/evening out.
It is a little stark. Just hundreds of framed concert posters on the walls. But that's of interest to me, so I think it's great.
Chicken and waffles are fantastic. Julie's Mess is great, but too much potatoes.

Blue Habanero? It's OK. Seems like the hundred other Mexican places wanting to be a bit more upscale in the area.

La Loma sounds more consistent with what we have here.

I’m a lengua snob- my mother in law makes the absolute best lengua- but I’m really glad people have access now to things similar.

Cabeza and lengua, absolute king breakfast tacos.

Now if only I could find a place around here with good chilaquiles so I don't have to make it myself...

I'll second Momocho for upscale and La Loma for street tacos. La Loma's pastor is legit. Avo in Ohio City isn't quite as good as Momocho, but I enjoy it as well. Same owners as Indie and Char.

I still need to go to La Plaza in Lakewood. I've heard their tacos are good and the grocery store looks amazing.

Any of my southern Cuyahoga County brethren tried In the Weeds yet? It’s in North Royalton, located in the old Kavana location. Food is really good and the cocktails are stellar. Menu changes seasonally which you don’t always see with suburban restaurants. They also have an in-house flower shop.

Just went there.

Solid food and drink. Nice change-up from the choices in the area that can get stale after a while.
