So over this plot line. The Mandalorian shows what the franchise can still be without being this trash.

Yes I can confirm that the film is not excellent. I watched TFA TLJ and then this back to back. I got annoyed by the huge plot issues in force awakens but it his some really strong visual elements. The last jedi I love the pint the movie is trying to make about the force, that even though we are obsessed with bloodlines in the story of a family, the force cares not who you are etc.. but it has its own internal logic mistakes. The new one is more force awakens. It has a large front load of exposition and then a quest for a classic Abrams mystery box. then the final 45 mins is a mix of visually great set pieces and a complete lack of stakes, you never once feel like something unexpected will happen. I mean it could have been a lot worse, but its not good

Wow, this movie is getting trashed in all the major publications and review sites. By far the worst initial reception of any of the main-saga movies, including the prequels!

I did not have high expectations in the slightest, but I’m kind of shocked it’s this bad. They had years to plan this out and get this right, but it seems like Abrams was too clouded by original trilogy nostalgia to take any risks and attempt to make any kind of cohesive trilogy that could stand on its own. He straight up pretended that TLJ didn’t exist. I was not a fan of that movie, but once they committed to that direction I expected there to be lasting consequences from it.

How the hell could Kathleen Kennedy approve this?

I think its still worth watching, but i also think Marvel have raised the bar on what the audience expect. They want the trilogies etc.. to have a decent narrative and their to be consequence

Yeah, I don't even care. It's the best movie I have ever seen. I can't even believe how good it was. I didn't even like the first two a ton. Like I thought they were solid. This was perfect to me.
