Can we beat Netherlands?
As someone that played soccer for 12 years and qualified for a ref later one (though never reffed) I can honestly say I have no idea what they are calling offsides. It was always "is the offending playing closer to the goal than the defender" and I always took that to mean their legsDon't they use that goofy ass hologram thing?
"Oh, according to this his left hand was 2 inches in front of the defenders foot. Offsides."
Just not how it should be called, imo.
Yes. We can beat anyone. Can we beat Netherlands?
Berhalter and Shaq Moore need to be stripped of their citizenship. I never want to see either of them on the USMNT again.
I think the tech is pretty good.I found it. The US player was offside by.... A fraction of an inch, I guess?
Edit: because holy fucking shit. The offsides line is whatever the computer decides is each players closest point that can legally score a goal(so basically every part of a body but somewhere up the sleeve**). Also it's whenever the computer system decides the ball leaves the players foot based on chip technology inside of the ball.
**Which is also false because as long as your hands are against your body it's not a hand ball.
Basically it's voodoo

But based on that image, every line judge is raising the flag. You see the attacker's body in front of the defender, your flag goes up.This is what I'm talking about. Look at that image. Let's assume it's 100% accurate for the sake of this and forget about the fallibility of technology.
Would you rather give a call like that to the defense because his knee is 3 inches closer to the goal than the defenders hand, or instead would you rather say the offensive player timed his run about as well as he can and we reward attacking play?
That whole part of the thing needs to be removed.
You can look at replay. And the rule should be tilted to be in favor of the attackers. If, by the human eye, it isn't clear that the player is offsides, then he should be judged as being onside.
That's my take and I'll take it to the grave.
