Bad take. After the Ronaldo "best player in the world" take I'm wondering if I should continue to engage here.

Ronaldo is still elite and was once the best player in the world. It's not a ridiculous statement to make unless you take it COMPLETELY literal.

He should have been on the pitch from the JUMP and if you want to argue that you're an idiot.

On top of that, Brazil of late is a complete choke team with all the talent that they have. Go ahead and argue that too. They have failed on expectations.

Ronaldo WAS the best player in the world, this season he is unplayable! There is a reason why both: his club coach and national team coach benched his ass this season. So your argument is that it's everyone else's fault that you said bullshit?

Feels like the better course is to not say stupid bullshit in the first place. This way when people call you on it, we can skip the whole "Throw a tantrum and blame the people calling you out instead of admitting fault" thing.

I feel that now I don’t have a rooting interest anymore. I was hoping the English would find a way to get through.

Morocco will be a lot of peoples favorites due to their underdog status. Not me, I am not a big root for the underdog guy.

Croatia plays too negatively IMO. They’ve been effective. But, I don’t see them as worthy of a WC

Argentina is a team that I could normally support. They certainly are worthy of it. But, Messi comes off as a jerk to me. I hope they lose.

Lastly, the French. They just won it so I was hoping for someone different. That said, they are certainly worthy and come off as a fairly likable team.

I guess by default I am backing the French. Thoughts by anyone else?

I generally cheer for the underdog as a victory for the underdog has outsized importance for the country’s population. Given this, I’ll choose to cheer for the underdog whose country has the smallest population. After googling, Croatia is my choice.

With all due respect to Ronaldo, it's just time for him to retire. At his age, no offense is being played. Even some goalkeepers retire from soccer at his age.

I think this contest is a tossup. After Argentina’s behavior against the Netherlands, I won’t cheer for them to win the cup. It should be a fun match to watch.
