The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Another week, another Cyberpunk 2077 delay. Mid December release now.

Personally, I'd rather have it come out and be reasonably polished than a total shit show. I'm playing the game when it comes out regardless. If I have to wait another month, whatever. There's always other shit to play.

Ghost recon wildfire. Actually my first ghost. I'm loving this. Think I like it more than the farcrys.

Pretty much how I feel... I have an abundance of shit I’m playing. Still find it funny that it keeps getting little delays. It’s had three release dates in 2020 :chuckle: EDIT: Er, four release dates now.

Looks like AC Valhalla will be my November game!

Picked up Valhalla. The intro is really good. Definite Last Kingdom vibes. I wish the game would just ditch the stupid ass future storyline that no one cares about any more, though.

Think I'll snag it tomorrow. See if I can get my money's worth before Cyberpunk comes.

I'm digging the setting. Honestly kind of surprised we haven't seen more games set in viking times. It seems like an historical period ripe for video game exploration. I felt similarly about Odyssey. Like, how are more third person action games not set during those two time periods?

I guess God of War is the only other series that has been set during both. :chuckle:

So one thing I really like about Valhalla (I've only played it for about an hour to an hour and a half, so still in the intro which is set in Norway) is that they've basically gotten rid of character levels. Instead, you simply have a power level that indicates how many ability points you've invested into your character. It essentially streamlines the leveling system by removing an unnecessary number. I've only unlocked two abilities so far, so I'm at level three. Quest difficulty is indicated by power level as well.

Apparently they've also sort of simplified the side quest system so you'll find a lot of shorter random encounters that give you a bit more insight into the world and the people inhabiting it. I've only encountered one of those so far, and it was finding an old man with dementia who had apparently spent some time in England and he offers some tidbits of historical lore that will surely come into play later, talking about King Alfred and some of the English kingdoms. Having watched The Last Kingdom, I'm already relatively aware of a lot of this, as it takes place during roughly the same time period and also heavily features Alfred. And if you haven't watched The Last Kingdom, fucking load up Netflix and get to work because it's awesome.

Oh, and you can respec your character whenever you want in this game, which is pretty awesome. If you decide halfway through the game that you want to be more of a stealth character, you can. About fucking time games let you do something like this without consequence, like having to pay a fee in in-game currency like a lot of RPGs make you.

Anyone able to cop a PS5?
Mine is scheduled to be delivered by Sunday. Snagged a preorder with Target months ago.

I'm getting COD and Miles Morales Deluxe right away. Interested in Demon's Souls but not getting it right away.

Also planning to get some PS4 games: Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and God of War 2018. Maybe Uncharted 4 down the line.

Picked up ps5's for me and my nephew. Played some Miles Morales, and 2k21. Watched him play Astrobot and Sackboy. Graphics all around were nice. The dualsense is nuts, and I can't wait to see how future games take advantage of the adaptive triggers. 2K already makes the triggers harder to press, as your player fatigues. I also bought a new LG Oled recently, and want to see COD at 120fps.

Got mine delivered today. Picking one up for my buddy tomorrow.

I’ve been playing Miles Morales while I wait for Demon’s Souls to be delivered. Other than a couple minor technical glitches, no issues so far. Everything looks great and the console runs super fast. I’ve heard of people running into some issues, including one reviewer having their console permanently brick, but nowhere near the issues that have plagued the Xbox launch.

I read there’s issues with ps5 rest mode, and external storage via usb. So in have been trying to avoid both. Changed settings so the console would not automatically go into rest mode, but I left it downloading games while I went to my nephews house to help him set his up, and when I got back it was in rest mode anyway. Luckily no issues turning it back on.

It feels good not having to deal with the release of these bad boys. Also, not in a rush to upgrade like I've been in the past. Will probably look into by the time Halo eventually drops because that is where my group will be ready to go. 2 of the 4 have already upgrade, 1 is waiting on his thanks to Amazon bumping him back, but such a weird feeling not getting super hyped about these.

Playing updated Dead Cells since my buddy reupped their game pass and we console share. They definitely made it more of a challenge vs just the base game.

I'm just happy these consoles are finally decent, in terms of hardware, so game can push some boundaries again. We've been stagnant for a while because games are designed with consoles in mind. You guys being welcomed into the modern era means PC gaming gets to move forward as well.
