The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just got a pretty powerful gaming laptop. Mainly using it for schoolwork (I'm running several VMs that are pretty resource-intensive for my masters program) but I want to get back into some PC gaming on the side.

What recommendations do people have? Main genres (at least for PC) tend to be strategy, FPS, and RPG. I think I should have the hardware to run anything out there today - it has a 4080 and plenty of memory. The only place it's a little bit lacking is the storage, but I think there's plenty of room for expansion there, should I need it.

I'm considering RDR2 and Cyberpunk thus far, but definitely open to suggestions!

Anyone playing anything good
RE4 Remake is the best game of 2023 so far, in my opinion. They took one of the games on my all-time list (and the best in the series, again in my opinion) and somehow made it even better. Mercenaries Mode just dropped for free this week, too.

Also switching back and forth between Metroid Prime, Slay the Spire, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on the Switch on occasion.

I only really play niche games on PC anymore. Like RTS. Total War all day baby.

I finished Cyberpunk not too long ago and think it's well worth playing now, and there's some DLC coming later this year with Idris Elba starring. You're pretty much free to play it however you want too.

Also, it won't require a powerhouse PC, but I'm getting close to the end of Disco Elysium and it's quite possibly the best RPG I've ever played. Not sure I've ever felt that a game more conforms itself around my build and choices. I restarted it a few times before getting as far as I am now and the experience was wildly different with varying builds. The basic story beats are more or less the same, but you have access to completely different thoughts and paths based on your stats.

I used to play Total War. Is the newest Warhammer any good?
I put hundreds of hours into 2 and bought 3 on launch but havent played yet (lol). Gonna get into it here soon. But its been patched up and everything now, I hear good things.

Cyberpunk is decent but RDR2 is incredible

Agreed, but he said he was into FPS and RPG games, and Cyberpunk is a much closer fit to that than Red Dead, as Cyberpunk is quite literally an FPS/RPG hybrid.

I'd probably wait to buy it until it's on sale, though. It's sixty bucks right now and I imagine it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper whenever it next goes on sale since it's a couple years old.

Already played and beat RDR2 when it first came out on PS4, but I've been meaning to give it another go... and I think playing it on PC would be a hell of an experience.

Being able to aim with a mouse certainly makes the hunting and combat a little easier.

Bought Stardew Valley for my wife as something chill to play while she deals with her first pregnancy. Fast forward two weeks and I’m addicted to being a mayo producer. What a gem of a game if you need a chill escape.
Stardew is such a chill, enjoyable experience.

I'm playing Bannerlord now. They finally released it on PS5. This game is awesome. I wish the ASOIAF mod was avail on PS

Zoids: Battle Legends for the GameCube...

One of the most underrated games ever...

Prove me wrong! Lol
