Just saw this, I was like oh man no way it’s Hades 2 is it… sure is! Looks great.
Ohhhhhhh yeah.
So my take, BoTW is a really good game. Its a terrible Zelda game. It just doesn't have a lot of the charm of traditional Zelda, garbage dungeons, no enemy diversity, breakable weapons etc. If you play it as a game that happens to be set in Hyrule but isnt a standard LoZ game, you may enjoy it more.Any Breath of the Wild stans in here?
I picked it back up for the first time in a year tonight. I was only like ten hours in but I do want to beat it. Once again though I am just not getting the appeal (yet). I haven’t played a Zelda game since Wind Waker but historically I adore the series. I’m finishing HFW on PS5 right now and going from that to BotW was such a jarring difference not just in framerate and graphical quality but just overall feel.
Played for maybe 30 mins and shut it off. Wondering if I’ve just outgrown Nintendo games or what. Felt similar with Mario Odyssey. Or maybe I just need to throw a few more hours in and see how I feel then.
Either way, made me kinda sad.

Interesting.It’s not just you.
I’m a huge Zelda fan and collector. Look at my top ten games list and honorable mentions and you’ll see the series pop up in there plenty of times.
When they released the remake of Link’s Awakening, I bought it day one and pretty much couldn’t put it down til I beat it.
BOTW has been the toughest game in the series for me to actually get into, and I can’t quite put my finger on why. Objectively it’s a fantastic game - a huge world to explore, secrets aplenty, lots of activities and side quests to take you off the beaten path. It’s the same exact stuff that draws me to games like RDR2 and The Witcher 3 (I guess you could throw Elden Ring in there as a recent entry, too). But, yeah… I don’t know if it’s the pacing, the fragile weapons, etc.
It’s just never been able to capture that same magic for me as other titles in the series have, even if it is a great game. I’m about to give it another run myself, now that I’ll have some time off around the holidays.
