Thoughts on trading Jose Ramirez

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I haven't read this thread but I guess I could believe in the possibility if the Braves are actually just getting stupid with their offers, which if that Gomez guy is legit, at least suggests it may be trending that way but that offer still isn't enough.

We need Pache instead of Waters.

But honestly I would prefer to see a guy like Langeliers play at AA first. He hasn't proven enough to be the top of a trade for Jose.

My initial thought was Indians would wait til July at earliest just to see younger players this year vs relying on 1 month of instructional ball. Yet, I don't see Rosario signing as a Ramirez trade block more than leverage. Now, No big needs ... no need to trade .... better go big or hang up the phone deal. Both Rosario and Cesar can be traded in July if we turn into sellers but Chris would need to be doing cartwheels in excitement to trade Jose now.

Don’t kill the messenger but Braves fans are on twitter today about possible Ramirez deal. It got started by Hector Gomez who was one of first to break Ozuna signing replying to a twitter proposed line up for the Braves w Ramirez. He said he hopes Braves can get it done and the deal on table is supposedly for De La Cruz, Waters, Riley and Langeliers .... yet again he said possible (as Mandy said we will listen) but pulling trigger is something else. However, Braves fans are taking it as being closer than it is as Dan Clark teased big news coming today.

From my point of view, any deal is 2 top 100 prospects which Waters and Langeliers are. I like a 2nd catcher to pair with Naylor as any top 100 guy can flame out. And both of them would be good timing for FA timing of Hedges and Perez. Waters also can replace Rosario next year and can play CF pushing Mercado to 4th OF role w Luplow. I prefer a younger better upside pitcher even if just Muller or Shuster. And not really fan of Riley ... would like someone younger like Shewmake but no good 3B prospect in their system after Riley. Like Mandy says ... listen but pulling trigger will take more.
If history has shown us (& other baseball front offices anything) it is: Be very suspect of any prospect the Atlanta Braves are willing to deal..

OF Drew Waters would get held back for contractual reasons, but would be the best CF prospect this team has had since Sizemore.

C Shea Langeliers is a great fit for the org behind the plate. He’s likely going to Triple-A or a brief Double-A stint but he’s close to ready.

Add in one of two of those good young starters and I would definitely be interested.

Still seems like they’re just setting the table for a midseason rehash.

Thinking about a potential 2022 lineup:

2B - Tyler Freeman
CF - Drew Waters (S)
3B - Nolan Jones (L)
DH - Franmil Reyes
LF - Josh Naylor (L)
C - Shea Langeliers
1B - Bobby Bradley (L)
RF - Jet Johnson (L)
SS - Andres Gimenez (L)

Weird to think about, but young and stellar if they can get this some of these guys to pan out.

@petes999

This may be a reposting of a January 27th note from his Esquina (The Square) blog.. or something new.. so far, no real follow ups says this has less certainty.. but, as you've indicated.. who really knows..

It’s possible that Riley could end up the best get of that group. I understand that his minor league success hasn’t transferred yet, but he’s only 23 and the upside is huge. Conversely..........you just never know. That’s a pretty good package, but I would demand one of Muller or Davidson over De La Cruz.

Without a great look at so many of their guys last season, I’m genuinely curious how the Indians would sort through Atlanta’s available pitching prospects.

They seemingly have about 10 guys between AA and the big leagues who would be trade candidates that also fit the need of helping in 2021.

I'd guess they probably have pretty good reports on most of them or have seen them pitch in person. Just guessing though.

A lot of ATL pitching prospects have control issues. Don't seem like the type Cle FO goes for.

Color me extremely skeptical of this “rumor.”

A couple of writers at Fansided that write for the Braves have now picked up the non-rumor rumors on Jose Ramirez.. You know the kind.. The Indians are facing a tough division and have already given up.. why bother holding onto Ramirez.. then a lame opinion on who should be included in a deal.. Nothing official or substantial to bother with..
